Principal's Corner; Ms. Sonya Pitcock

Cougar families,

Thanks for supporting us in having to reschedule the school dance due to the severe weather. The new dance date is December 2nd, 7-9 PM. Tickets are the same price and students who already paid will be able to use that ticket on the new date. We are looking forward to having some fun!

As we have more and more students staying after school and riding the late bus, we wanted to remind parents that students need to know their neighborhood or apartment complex names. The late bus driver builds the route when the kids get on the bus in the afternoon. We don’t have the same kids everyday so that route changes day to day. It’s very important for kids to be able to tell the driver where they live so the driver can get them home in a timely manner. If students only know they live by Top Golf or behind Kroger, that makes it very difficult to get them to the best drop. They need to know The Heights Apts, or Spring Meadow neighborhood, etc. Thanks for your help with this.

We wanted to remind everyone that class starts at 8:20 in the morning. That means your child needs to be in their seat in the classroom at 8:20. If you drop your child off at 8:17 they will most likely be late to first period. The doors by the gym, where car riders are dropped off, lock at 8:20 so students arriving at that time or later need to be brought around to the front door to check in and get a tardy pass. They will not be able to enter the building through those doors after 8:20. It is very hard for kids to start their day late to class, so please get them up a little earlier so they can be on time. Thank you for your help with this.

We’ve had a great start to our Dad’s Club and appreciate our volunteers who have joined us a few times. We look forward to seeing more dads (or other male family members) join us at school!

November 18 will be an early release day for students at 12:35. Students will have the opportunity to eat lunch at school before dismissal. Buses will run at the earlier time. Thanksgiving Break week will follow November 21-25.

We hope everyone enjoys their break and has a wonderful holiday with family and friends.
