A Message from Mrs. Caudill

Next week is teacher appreciation week. I could not be more appreciative of the teachers and staff at Amerman. I cannot thank them enough for what they have done over the course of this year and they are real life super heros. Thank you for “weathering the storm.” Thank you for all the work they are doing behind the scenes to be there for our students and families. Thank you for going an extra trillion miles. Mostly, I just thank them for being who they are - AMAZING!

Stay well,

Devon Caudill

Morning Drop-off Reminder

As a reminder, please do not drop your child(ren) off in the south lot. If you would like to drop your children off without getting out of your vehicle, please utilize the loop. If you are utilizing the south lot, you must park your car and walk your child to the sidewalk. This is for the safety of our students.

The Amerman Spring Clean-up is planned for Saturday May 1, 2021.

Please join us for the annual Spring Clean-up of our school grounds! We will meet Saturday May, 1, starting at 9 am. Many hands make light work, so grab your gardening tools and meet fellow Amerman families as we take pride in our school and ready the landscape for summer. Please bring shovels, takes, snips, pruners, gloves, cordless leaf blowers, brooms. Especially wheelbarrows and plastic baskets are needed. We are going to do mulching. Come for as long as you are able. Masks are required when unable to keep a 6 foot distance.

We all know, it is very stressful time for all of us, however, many hands make our work easier, so we expect this to be done quickly, if we get enough help.

Additionally the Dad's Club will be onsite putting together our new Gaga Ball Pit - they could use the help too!

(A light “grab & go” snacks will be provided)

Thank you in advance!!!

Election day is next Tuesday, May 4, 2021. The NPS Non-Homestead Operating Millage Renewal is on the ballot.

On May 4, 2021, voters will be asked to consider a ballot proposal that would renew Northville Public Schools’ current Operating Millage rate of 19.2383 mills for five years, 2022 to 2026, and would permit the school district to continue to levy the maximum 18 operating mills on only non-homestead property each year.

This millage renewal will impose no new taxes.

This is a renewal millage on non-homestead property only. No added taxes for businesses. No tax impact to homeowners of primary residences.

This past Wednesday, our 4th and 5th Graders had the opportunity to participate in Northville's "Virtual" STEAM Fair. The day began with live sessions presented by some wonderful corporate partners. CooperStandard took the students on a virtual factory tour. DTE – MIGreenPower taught them about wind and solar energy, while ITC explained how they get that energy to our homes.

Afterwards, the students were able to explore their peers' projects online through a website specifically designed for the event. We now invite you to do the same. Please click the link below to explore the wonderful projects created by Northville's K-12 students. Also, there are links to recordings of the live presentations our students saw from our corporate partners.

Special thanks also goes to the Presenting Sponsor, Community Financial Credit Union and all of the senior sponsors who made the STEAM Fair possible.

As you may be aware, there has been a significant increase in the number of COVID cases in our community, and across Michigan over the course of the past several weeks. Citing the increasing case rates and variant spread in Michigan, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) has reinstated a standard 14-day quarantine for close contacts of COVID-19 cases effective immediately.

Please remember to use the Wayne County Health Department COVID-19 Daily STUDENT Symptom Screening Tool (2.16.2021) each morning to determine if your child can come to school.

We thank you in advance for being mindful of these requirements, as they keep your children and ALL of our children and staff safe.

May Focus: Integrity! Habit 8: Find your Voice!

Every month Amerman Focuses on a new theme and Leader in Me Habit of the Month. The focus for the month of May is Integrity and our Habit of the Month is Habit 8: Find you Voice!

This month’s Habit: Habit #8 - Find your Voice

What this means: Find your voice means finding something that you are good at and like doing. You are proud, but do not boast. Instead, you use your expertise to help and inspire others.

Physical: Learn your true nature and gifts, then use them to envision what you can achieve.

Social/Emotional: We all have a purpose and special talents.

Mental: Transcend the negative culture of ego, scarcity, comparison, and competitiveness.

Spiritual: Be a catalyst to the success of something bigger than ourselves.

What I can do:

  • Try something new like painting, horseback riding, or baseball. Then ask yourself: Did I enjoy myself? Was it easy or hard? Do I want to learn more?
  • Go to the library or search the internet to find reading material on new things. What kinds of things spark your interest? What do you want to continue learning about?
  • Plan some time to help someone in need. How did the experience make you feel?

Great Books for Habit #8- Find Your Voice

  • Wonder by: R.J. Palacio
  • The Lion Inside by: Rachel Bright
  • Separate is Never Equal by: Duncan Tonatiuh
  • Wonderland by: Barbara O'Connor
  • Those Shoes by: Maribeth Boelts
