SW Snowden 5K Color Run

We are in the early stages of planning the first annual SW Snowden Color 5K Fun Run. We thought that this school fundraiser would be a great way to encourage our students to get into shape and be ready for the local Fossil Museum 5K Run scheduled for later in the spring. We are making it an unofficial "Color Run" to help make this a unique and fun opportunity for our students.

Our run will be a twist on the official The Color Run was founded in March 2011. As each runner passes a mile marker, their white shirts are dusted with hypo-allergenic cornstarch based colors. Our run will be similar.

The runners route will be very similar to that of the Fossil Museum except that the starting and ending point will be at our school. Be on the lookout for more details on registration and set up from our newly formed SWS Race Committee.

Thank you, Dr. Phipps!

Our superintendent, Dr. Phipps, stopped in this week to donate some very nice tennis rackets. After hearing about recent USTA clinic he thought he would donate some from his personal collection. He has also offered to do some lessons with our students once it warms up a bit.

About Us

S.W. Snowden serves about 200 students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade . The students come from Beaufort County communities in and around Aurora, Edward, and Blounts Creek. The school's history can be traced back over several years and it has been restructured several times. In 1970, the Aurora school was renamed S. W. after Mr. Seward Webb Snowden who was a dedicated principal from the 1940s to the 1960s.
