Garfield Re-2 School District Change Payroll Dates to the LAST DAY OF THE MONTH
As you all are aware there have been many productive and positive changes in the Human Resource and Finance Departments over these summer months. During this time, we have been working hard at auditing processes and practices. After careful consideration and multiple conversations with PERA, one item that Garfield Re-2 needs to update immediately is our payroll schedule practice. Starting 8/2/2020 payroll dates will change from the 1st of the month to the last day of the month. This change does not affect paycheck days, everyone will still be paid on the 15th of the month.
Why are we updating the payroll dates?
To minimize the errors in PERA reporting due to multiple month cross-overs
To be in compliance with PERA reporting
To minimize payroll errors due to manual miscalculations when new employees are hired mid-month
To minimize benefit errors due to manual miscalculations and communication errors when new employees are hired mid-month
To provide staff members with consistent payroll dates every year for personal calculations
Please see the updated payroll dates here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/17zVRcRw1wd7FCejJD3vsBpmvwFiDUyJzBoc0lHabSi4/edit?usp=sharing

Please add “NEW BADGE” to the subject line and don’t forget to include your Last name, First

How do I file a Title IX complaint?
Title IX requires schools to adopt and publish grievance procedures for students to file complaints of sex discrimination, including complaints of sexual harassment or sexual violence. Schools can use general disciplinary procedures to address complaints of sex discrimination.
If you have a Title IX grievance - a complaint of sex discrimination - contact:
Kayla Reece - Staff Title IX Coordinator
at 970-665-7600
Title IX Statute- “No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subject to discrimination under any educational program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.” 20 U.S. Code § 1681.
Title IX includes sexual harassment and sex-based dicsrimination including but not limited to sexual harassment, sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, stalking, gender based bullying and harassment, and single sex only classes.

October 2 is National Custodian Day
During these trying times and before our Custodial staff has gone above and beyond to take the welfare of our students and staff to a whole new level.
We are so proud to be a part of what they have accomplished in these times.
They are the unsung heroes of Garfield Re-2!!
Dot. . .Dot. . .Dot. . .Are you getting our text messages?

ZONAR bus passes will be required beginning October 12
Garfield Re-2 families:
Zonar bus passes will be required of all bus riders beginning October 12, 2020. We will always transport students TO school, however, if your child does NOT have their bus pass in the afternoon, they will NOT be allowed on the bus. You will be called to come and pick up your child at school in the afternoons.
The ZONAR bus pass provides incredibly vital information for Garfield Re-2 in the event that there is an emergency. We will know EXACTLY which parents to call, and which students to be accountable for. PLEASE send your child to the bus with their bus pass EVERY DAY.

Free and Reduced Lunch applications
Below are the free and reduced lunch forms for the 2020-21 school year. Although the USDA is providing free lunches now for all students, we have no idea how long this program will last.
If you want to be sure that you are included in the free and reduced lunch program when the current situation changes, please complete the attached forms and return to your child’s school or Sheri Edwards 215 E. 30th St., Rifle, CO 81650 or call 665-7604.
This applies to both virtual and in-person learners.
The free and reduced lunch count is one factor that indicates which schools need additional support for students. It helps provide additional resources for technology and instructional staff and much more.
More importantly, if you are in need of additional support, we encourage you to take a moment, and complete the forms below.
QPR Gatekeeper Training
Suicide Prevention Training brought to you by CEBT & Triad EAP
QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer — the 3 simple steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide.
Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help.
A PDF of the flyer is below.
