Jockstraps are an undergarment designed to support male genitalia during physical activities.

The jockstrap was created by C.F. Bennet to provide support and comfort for bicycle jockeys going over the rough cobblestone streets of Boston.

Additional Protection

Now a days when jockstraps are used they usually serve to hold cups only. Cups are put into the pouch of the jockstrap. They can be either completely hard or slightly soft to provide some comfort. However, cups have progressed to where they don't necessarily need a jockstrap to support them.

Jockstraps normally have an elastic waist and always have a pouch in the front. Specific variations are made for swimming, hockey, and mostly every sport. Windproof jockstraps are made to prevent wind flow of course and even to keep the wearer warm
