Lunchtime supervision: We need you! πππ§βπ¦βπ§
We would love to have parent volunteers come during lunchtime/lunch recess and provide an extra pair of eyes. This is a great opportunity to hang out with your child and their friends at school! Volunteers must wear masks and be cleared by the district to volunteer on campus.
We really need 1-3 volunteers daily, especially during rainy day recess! Click here to sign up! Thank you!
Conference Weeks: October 18-29th - School is out at 1:35pm daily (Wednesdays 1pm)
From October 18 - 29, grades 1-5 will be released at 1:35pm (with the exception of Wednesdays - which will remain at their normal release time of 1:00pm). Kindergarten will be released at 1:20pm.
This is to allow time for parent-teacher conferences. Details about individual conferences will come directly from your child's teacher.
Please make sure your child is picked up on time and that you have arranged child care if needed.

The plan in draft form is available and we continue to welcome feedback via our survey. We anticipate seeking Board approval on October 27, 2021, prior to submission of the plan to the California Department of Education, which will monitor its implementation.
Intradistrict Transfers for 2022-2023 Grades 6-12
Online transfer applications are now available through Nov 15, 2021. All schools must post this information on their websites.-The application for Intradistrict Transfers for students who will be in grades 6-12 in the 2022-2023 school year is now available online at mdusd.org/transfers from October 15-November 15, 2021.

The Growing Up Green Fundraiser is back again for October!
The next shopping days are October 22-31, just mention Valhalla Elementary to the cashier at any Sloat Garden Center, and 10% of your purchase will go back to the school garden program.These funds help us to purchase plants and supplies needed for our edible garden and Greco garden.

Do you love helping out at lunch time, but would love to get a little extra cash doing so and on occasion? This is the perfect side gig!
Substitute Secretarial/Clerical:
Reading Lab Volunteers
After you drop off your student at Valhalla, what do you do? If you have the time, please come back to campus and spend 25 minutes to help a student! The Reading Lab would love for you to come by and read with a student or two.
It only takes 25 minutes!
The Reading Lab is in need of volunteers on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings at 10:10, 10:40, 11:10, and 11:40-12:00.
If you can spare the time, our students will be very appreciative.
Any adult over 18 years old (vaccinated, TB tested, & fingerprinted) with some free time can help. This includes parents, grandparents, friends and neighbors. The gift of 25 minutes a week will last a lifetime for these students.

Be a volunteer:
MDUSD has approved parent volunteers inside and outside the classroom. Volunteers must have a valid TB test, fingerprints on file, proof of vaccination, and masks. Please reach out to Mrs. Rebecca Gibbs, our secretary, to show proof of vaccination. Please reach out to your teacher for further information regarding helping in the classroom or sign up on Konstella to volunteer at lunch.
