Kindergarten
Mrs. Krahn, Ms. Miszewski, & Mrs. Relich
Welcome Back! We hope you all had a fun Spring Break!
Reading Workshop
In Reader's Workshop, we have been continuing to grow our stamina! We have been practicing reading on our own for 13 minutes straight, without having any interruptions. Continued practice with this skill will be helpful in making us fluent readers!
We have also been diving into word families. Kindergartens have been reading, writing, and comparing these different words.
Language Workshop
In Language Workshop, we have begun our Growth Unit. We are exploring characters who grow and change throughout fiction stories. So far, we have learned that characters can change by getting older. They can also change by becoming smarter, more mature, or even more wild.
We have also been practicing retelling fiction stories. We know that it is important for us to focus on the beginning, middle, and end of stories. It is also important for us to consider the problem and solution of the story.
Math Workshop
We have finished up our Data Unit. We have been reading graphs, making graphs, and sorting different objects into categories that we come up with on our own.
We have now begun our Base 10 Unit. In Kindergarten, it is important that we understand how teen numbers are made. We know that teen numbers are made up of a ten, with some loose items left over.

Science
We have just wrapped up our unit on Force and Motion! We investigated the question: How do pushes and pulls affect the movement of an object? The Kindergarteners explored the forces that cause objects to move from one place to another. We also studied friction, and considered how rough and smooth surfaces impact motion.
To go along with our study on Forces and Motion, we headed to the Makerspace to practice using Ozobots. Ozobots are tiny robots that teach us all about coding. It was fun using this exciting technology!
