Mrs. Koplin's 4K News

Welcome to 4K!

I would like to welcome your child to the 4K Learn and Play program! It was great to meet most of you at the open house yesterday! Our focus the first week of school will be to help your child feel comfortable within our classroom and to start to learn our 4K daily routines. The first day of school (Thursday, Sept. 1st) we will be reading books like Pete the Cat: Rocking in My School Shoes by Eric Litwin. This is a fun book with a catchy song that will surely get your child excited for school! Click below for a video of Pete the Cat: Rocking in My School Shoes that you could watch with your child.

4K A.M. Class

The morning 4K class at Deerfield Elementary School runs from 7:55am-10:30am. If you are dropping off your child before school please bring them to the elementary school cafeteria 4K line at the earliest 7:35am. Please come in through the back doors (off Liberty St.). Mrs. Peterson will be at 4K line waiting for students. I will be waiting for bus students upstairs and will help them with the routine for the first few weeks. At 10:30am the morning 4K class dismisses upstairs by the office. This is where bus students will get on the bus to leave school and where parents can come get "pick up" students (AM class only).

4K P.M. Class

Mrs. Koplin's 4K afternoon class at Deerfield Elementary School runs from 12:15pm-2:45pm. If you are dropping your child off at 12:15pm please wait outside (or inside) the doors by the office until you see me or Mrs. Peterson. At 2:45pm the afternoon class dismisses. The bus students will go upstairs with one of the 4K teachers to get on their bus (we will make backpack tags with the students name and bus number). If you are picking up your child (PM class only) dismissal will be in the back parking lot off of Liberty St. You will need to park your car and come to door #8 by the Kindergarten playground. The 4K pick up students will be waiting inside this door with one of the 4k teachers.

Classroom Wish List

Many parents have asked me if there is anything else beyond the supply list that we might need for our 4K classroom. That is such a generous offer and I decided I would just share this with everyone. I will be sending classroom wish lists periodically throughout the school year (some with items needed for cooking projects, science projects, or special events). Please by no means feel obligated to donate something. However, if you are willing to donate one of these items please e-mail to check first as I don't want people taking time to go out and then buying duplicates. Thank you!

* 2 containers of Cream of Tartar ( I use it to make play dough for the classroom)

* Package of Food Coloring (used for various classroom cooking projects, science projects, etc…)

* Dolls for our dollhouse center

After 4K Program at Holland's Hearts and Hands Preschool

There is an after 4K drop in program available for 4K morning students at Holland's Hearts and Hand Preschool on Tuesdays and Thursdays! Students can even be bussed there after 4K. The rate is $5.00 an hour. She will even do drop in hours if you are signed up. Please call Miss Jane Holland at 608-764-5389 for more details and to sign up!

Questions?

We are going to have a great first day and week! I'm looking forward to welcoming your child into our 4K class. If you have any questions at all about any bus/pick up/drop off routines please don't hesitate to call or e-mail me! Or if you want to send me an e-mail confirming where your child is going after class I will respond right away. If your child is going to do something different on Thursday (than their normal arrival/ dismissal that you wrote on the information sheet) please let me know asap. Also, please let me know if you want to add or delete an e-mail address from this mailing list. Thanks! :)
