Language Arts
Spelling
Due to the short week we did not have a spelling test last week. We did a lot of work with the words and will continue to work with them this week as we work with our new words.
List 8:
rash, smash, splash, king, bring, swing, bank, crank, drank, are
Phonics
We have very busy learning initial and final blends and their sounds. We will complete our initial study on short vowels this week. Test 2 is Tuesday.
The tools we use with short vowels are good for the students to remember.
- Mrs. and Mr. Short are always together. Meaning that a short vowel must always be followed by a consonant.
- Before you can add the Bad Cats - suffixes - you must add Uncle Short. Meaning that before you add -ing, -ed, -er, -est, you must double the consonant.
I hope these are helpful.
