Cell Phone Tower Proposal
This past Monday (10/11) Mountain View hosted a community meeting conducted by Verizon Wireless. According to the community meeting notice from Verizon, the goal of the meeting was to share the specifics for a “new wireless communication facility consisting of a 199’ monopole with associated antenna and ground equipment. The facility is proposed for an approximately 87-acre parcel located at 825 Weavers Road, Rockingham, Virginia.” The pole would be approximately .4 miles away from Mountain View, it would measure 36’ in diameter at the base and 16’ in diameter at the top. After the special use permit application is submitted, Rockingham County will hold a public hearing that will be announced in the Daily News Record and also on the Rockingham County website. The Board of Supervisors will make the final decision as to whether the facility is approved.
For more information, you can contact the following individuals:

Parenting Corner
(Wait Till 8th and Another Helpful Parent Resource for Raising “Digital Natives” )
With the holidays seemingly around the corner, you may be considering giving your child their first cell phone (or atleast upgrading your phone and giving them your old one). Before you give your child a phone, please visit https://www.waituntil8th.org/ and consider how responsible he or she is, not only in keeping track of and taking care of the phone, but also in how he or she will behave on social media. I have a son who would lose his shoes if they weren’t attached to his feet. I will not be buying him a cell phone anytime soon. If you are not interested in taking the time to closely monitor your child’s behavior online, please do not give them a phone! It’s like giving them the keys to your car and saying, “Have fun learning to drive!” If your child already has a phone and/ or social media, this is a great site that can help you make decisions, keep your child safe, and set parameters for their screen time. Please take a moment to check it out (and bookmark) https://www.commonsensemedia.org/parent-concerns
Food Boxes
This year Hope Distributed will be providing food boxes over the Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks. These boxes are not meant to be a Thanksgiving Dinner or Christmas Dinner, but they are meant to give the student and their families enough food to help them during an expanded break from school. If you would like to receive a box, please contact the school at 540-438-1965. Boxes will be available to pick up from the school on Monday, November 22nd or Tuesday, November 23rd.

MASKS
Face coverings are required to be worn indoors at all times, in accordance with the state public health order date August 12, 2021, other than mask breaks and designated eating times. Face coverings are to be worn regardless of social distancing. Teachers will help/train students, as needed, to wear face coverings according to these guidelines. Parents are responsible for providing students with face masks.
Students that do not comply with wearing a face covering will be sent to the office. If the issue cannot be resolved, the student will be placed in an area distanced from others to wait until a parent picks them up.
