COMMUNITY EVENTS
SCHOOL HOURS - 7:45 a.m. - 3:15 p.m.
MORNING ARRIVAL - 7:15 a.m. - 7:45 a.m.
BREAKFAST
We need your help to ensure that we have a safe, smooth, and respectful arrival!
All students will enter through the main entrance on Lippitt. Morning drop off begins at 7:15 a.m. School starts at 7:45 a.m. We recommend that you drop off your child no later than 7:40 a.m. Students are expected to be in class and ready for instruction at 7:45 a.m.
Arrival Reminders
Drop Off Zones
Lippitt - The lane closest to the school is a moving lane. Parents are not permitted to exit their cars in this lane. This includes opening the door for your student. If your student needs assistance, please enter through the driveway lane, or park on the other side of the street and walk them across.
Lippitt - The lane across the street from the school is for parents who want to park and walk their student to the drop off zone. Do not block driveways (this includes partially blocking driveways).
Driveway - Parents are not permitted to exit their cars in this lane. Staff are on hand to assist students who need assistance in getting out of the car. Students may also exit with out assistance if there is not a staff member in the immediate vicinity.
NEW PROCEDURE: There have been many instances of parents walking their students across the street in front of moving vehicles. This creates an unsafe environment for our staff, parents, and students. Effective Tuesday, September 7th, all parents who park and walk their students across the street are required to walk down to the designated crossing zone (look for orange cones across from the main entrance). Parents will wait at the location until staff direct them to walk across the street.
1. Lippitt and Sunland are one-way streets before and after school.
2. Do not block driveways or alleys.
3. Please adhere to directions given by campus personnel on duty.
4. Follow all directions on the Arrival Map.
5. Parents will not be allowed to walk their child to the main entrance. Parents will have to remain behind the designated blue line.
6. While on district property (this includes dropping off a student at the entrance, and picking up after school), visitors must have their masks on.
7. Be respectful to our staff and other parents.
LUNCH
Lunch is provided at no cost to all students. Due to current safety guidelines in place, we are unable to accommodate parents on campus during lunch at this time. If there are any changes during the year, we will send out communication.
DISMISSAL - 3:15 p.m.
We need your help to ensure that we have a safe, smooth, and respectful dismissal!
We want to ensure a safe afternoon dismissal for our students, parents, and staff. It is a collective responsibility between staff and parents to ensure a safe dismissal.
Dismissal is at 3:15 p.m. each day. Please ensure your child is picked up no later than 3:20 p.m. If you are late, your child will be taken to the main entrance for pick up. The dismissal locations are as follows:
- Pre-K students and Ms. Settimi's Kindergarten class will be dismissed at the exterior door of their individual classrooms located on the Sunland side (first wing) of the building.
- Kindergarten students (except Ms. Settimi) will be dismissed at the exterior entrance on Sunland (first wing).
- 1st and 2nd Grade students will be dismissed at the exterior door on Sunland (second wing). Parents will line up based on the grade level. Parents will display the student name card.
- 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade students will be dismissed on the Neering side of the building. NEW PROCEDURE: Parents will only line up on the lane closest to the school. Although Neering is a two way street, we will operate dismissal as if it was a one way street. There will be no loading across from the school. When students see their parents car, they will be sent to the loading zone (near the staff parking lot entrance). Students will load, and cars will move up in the line.
Dismissal Reminders
1. Lippitt and Sunland are one-way streets before and after school.
2. For safety and traffic flow, please utilize the cross walks when crossing.
3. Students cannot be picked up, or dropped off in the middle of the street.
4. To prevent traffic from backing up, please do not stop in the middle of the street unless staff, parents, and students are in the crosswalk.
5. Do not block driveways or alleys.
6. Please adhere to directions given by campus personnel on duty.
7. If you are unable to find a parking space, please make one round around the school.
8. For the safety of all, we encourage you not to bring animals on campus during dismissal. If you do, you need to maintain control of your animal and keep your distances from other families and staff.
9. Follow all directions on the Dismissal Map.
10. Parents will need to remain behind the designated blue lines during dismissal.
11. While on district property (this includes dropping off a student at the entrance, and picking up after school), visitors must have their masks on.
12. Be respectful to our staff and other parents!
ATTENDANCE
The academic success of every student enrolled in Dallas Independent School District is important. Daily school attendance and on-time arrival are critical to this success. By attending school each day, students receive the benefit of teacher-led instruction, peer discussion, building each day’s learning on the previous day’s instruction, participation in a variety of school activities and the opportunity to grow as individuals.
Every year, Dallas ISD asks parents to complete an official attendance notification and truancy pledge. Previously this form has been provided by the campus but, this year, parents can complete this form online. Please click here to complete the required form.
Parents/Guardians can monitor student attendance records via Parent Portal on an ongoing basis.
Did You Know?
Students are more likely to be involved in class, be successful, and stay on track for graduation if they miss fewer than 10 school days.- Starting in kindergarten, too many absences can cause a student to fall behind in school.
- By 6th grade, amount of absences is one of the three signs that a student may drop out of high school.
- Missing 10%, or about 18 days, of the school year can drastically affect academic success. It may also jeopardize promotion to the next grade level and receiving class credit.
- Students can be chronically absent even if they only miss a day or two of school every few weeks.
Dallas ISD requires a written explanation or note to excuse an absence. It is recommended that students turn in absence notes within three days after returning to school. However, notes may be accepted within the semester in which the absence occurred.
