Message from the Assistant Principal...Mrs. Summerville
It seems cliché to say that this school year has absolutely flown by. However, it is now April and we only have a couple months left of the 2021-2022 school year. It’s been a pleasure seeing how much our students have grown, academically and socially these past several months.
The 3rd and 4th grade STAAR Reading and Math test is coming up in May. Please contact your child’s teacher if you have questions about the test. We are so proud of our students. They have worked very hard this year, and it shows in their work.

Special Message for 4th Grade Parents
It’s such an exciting time of year! Our 4th graders, the leaders of our school, are preparing for their transition into intermediate school! They’re learning about all of the Fine Arts classes they will have to choose from in 5th grade. They have received a Fine Arts Selection Sheet to be completed and returned to school (or completed electronically for some). On this Fine Arts Selection Sheet, they will select the Fine Arts class they want for 5th grade. Their choice goes straight to their intermediate school, and they will enroll them into that class! Very exciting!
4th graders are also going on a field trip to visit their intermediate school. They will learn about all the exciting things they have to look forward to in 5th grade.
There will also be a Family Night hosted by the intermediate school where you and your child can visit the school and learn all about the campus, schedules, expectations, see fun presentations, and more! Be on the lookout for flyers coming home with Family Night Information!
Forms to return by next week:
Campus Visit Permission Slips (Bozman & Cryar)
Bozman Fine Arts Selection Forms (yellow paper)
Cryar Fine Arts Selection QR Code (blue paper - complete electronically only - no form to return)

R.O.A.R. Character Education Program
R.O.A.R. stands for Respect, Optimism, Acceptance and Responsibility! This year, we will have a new way to dive deep into our character education at Wilkinson. Each month, we will have a specific “focus” for the month that helps students to dig a little deeper into ways they can show Respect, Optimism, Acceptance and Responsibility.
April’s Focus: “Coming Together: We can do this.”
Your students will learn the importance of working with others (toward a common goal or helping others achieve individual goals, collaboration, teamwork and positive communication skills to assist needed to work well with others. One critical skill needed to work collaboratively with others is listening to the other person’s/people’s thoughts and ideas and positively expressing their own thoughts and ideas. They will learn that it is natural for everyone to have a different point of view. When we can come together as a team, positively express all of our ideas, and use these ideas to meet our goals, we can succeed together!
Your students will discuss this concept during Guidance Lessons and during Morning Meetings this month. Please help your students to see how this concept can be used at home (working to complete chores with siblings, developing a new game/playing a familiar game with the entire family, setting and reaching a family goal). Thank you in advance for taking the time to discuss this with your students and encouraging them to practice working collaboratively with others.
Watch DOGS are back!!!!
Calling all father figures...now is your time. We are excited to welcome back our Watch DOGS. Watch this video from our Top DOG, Alan Armstrong.
