You will be receiving an invitation by email this week. It is VERY important that you attend at the scheduled time. (Translation will be available.)
The daily schedule will reflect a reduced amount of live/virtual instruction. During non-virtual instruction times, students will engage in Reinforcement Activities that will be provided by the district in order to support teachers during conference week.

A Message from the Principal
As we look ahead at this month, the big question on everyone's mind is will students be able to return to school soon??? CVUSD has applied for a waiver to allow TK-5th grade students to return to campus. Many plans are are underway at Ladera STARS Academy to make sure we are ready for a healthy and safe return for students.
- We need to hear from YOU - SURVEY DUE TODAY! You received an email from CVUSD on Wednesday, September 30, with a very short survey asking if you will send your scholar back to campus, when either the waiver is approved or when Ventura County meets the public health guidelines for a safe return to school.
- CVUSD has a comprehensive School Opening & Safety Plan in place for all the schools, and Ladera STARS Academy and all schools in our district have been working to prepare our campuses for a safe return.
- Key elements of school safety plans include: wellness check of all students and staff when entering campus, physical distancing in/outside of classrooms, face coverings for all students and staff, signage and routines for hand washing/sanitizing, improved ventilation, and disinfecting high-touch surfaces between cohorts. (See the video above and the CVUSD School Opening & Safety Plan for more detailed information).
- Students will remain in Cohort A or Cohort B, and will come to campus during the same cohort they currently have live/virtual instruction (either from 8:30-11:00 or 12:30-3:00).
Speaking of teachers, I want to give another shout-out to our teachers for ALL the work they are doing to make quality Remote Learning happen! Technical issues, the amount of planning required, so many NEW strategies and programs, on top of the 5 hours daily of teaching students over a computer (who are also facing so many challenges)...these are difficult times for all! Our teachers are working sooooo hard and I just want to express my admiration for all they are doing acknowledge them as my heroes!
Parents and kids, hang in there! I know remote learning has been rough, at times. We are doing our best and learning more everyday, too!
The Ladera STARS Academy teachers and staff are really looking forward
to seeing students and teaching them in person!
Regards,
Mrs. Wall

Important: Reminder about Grading and Conferences
Progress Reports are coming out with the Material Distribution bags, on Oct. 13. Student work through Canvas, SeeSaw and other learning programs is being graded. Progress reports will let parents know if students are meeting grade level benchmarks. At the end of the Trimester, scholars in grades 3-6 will receive letter grades for the work they have submitted and K-2 parents will receive marks related to academic performance in relation to the academic benchmarks.
Parent/Teacher Conferences are an important time to find out why your child's grades are not what you expected and to talk to your child's teacher about successes and challenges related to school. Please attend your scheduled conference!
