Free and Reduced Lunch Applications
Please be advised that school lunches will no longer be free for all students.
It is very important that families who believe they qualify for free or reduced lunch complete the application. Applications for free and reduced-price school meals must be completed this school year. If your family qualifies and you have not completed an application for the 2022 - 2023 school year, we ask that you complete an application now. The online application is available through the Genesis Parent Portal.
This safe and secure application method is the preferred way to submit this application. Any students verified through Direct Certification do not need to apply. Letters have been mailed out to the families who were directly certified.
Although the online application is preferred, don’t hesitate to contact your student’s building secretary for a paper copy if you wish to complete the paper application. Applications should be returned to your school.
To access the lunch application, log into the Genesis Parent Portal. Navigate to the ‘Forms’ tab. There will be an ‘Online Free and Reduced Lunch Application in the Forms Library. Click ‘Apply’ to start an application and follow the submission steps.
PANDEMIC ELECTRONIC BENEFITS TRANSFER (P-EBT)
Pandemic Electronic Benefits Transfer (P-EBT) is a program to help you purchase food for your child(ren) who were eligible for free or reduced-price school meals at a school that participates in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) or School Breakfast Program (SBP). In addition, summer 2022 P-EBT has been approved for students in grades K-12 in the 2021 – 2022 school year who were eligible for the National School Lunch Program.

MHS Athletics!
Jr. Mustangs (U13) Play at MetLife Stadium!
On Sunday, August 21st, the 13U Manville Jr. Mustangs football team traveled to MetLife Stadium and played against Mount Vernon, New York, during halftime of the New York Giants and Cincinnati Bengals preseason game. This opportunity arose when parent Amanda Gorbatuk successfully applied for a disaster relief grant offered by the N.F.L. after Hurricane Ida destroyed player and practice equipment in the clubhouse at Gerber Field. The day began with a comfortable ride to the Meadowlands on a charter bus. The Jr. Mustangs also watched the pregame warm-up from the field, where they met many of their favorite players. Then halftime came, and both teams played their hearts out and put on quite a show for a total of fifteen plays. Unfortunately, neither team could score a touchdown, but the memories from this special night will certainly last a lifetime.
Coach Pat Gorbatuk honored by New York Giants!
Last season, the New York Giants and Gatorade selected Manville's Pat Gorbatuk as the Lou Rettino High School Coach of the Week for Week 2. Immediately following Hurricane Ida, the Manville Mustangs defeated Dunellen on the road by a score of 48-6 in their first game after having their initial season-opener against Belvidere canceled in the aftermath of due to the storm. The Lou Rettino High School Football Coach of the Week Award is part of the Giants' continuing effort to support local youth football programs. The Giants elected to name the award in memory of former Union High School (NJ) coach Lou Rettino for his commitment to the game of football, his community, and the betterment of his athletes' lives. Coach Gorbatuk was selected due to his dedication to promoting youth football, developing motivated student-athletes, and his overall community involvement.
On August 21, the Giant's honored Coach Gorbatuk on the field during the first quarter of their preseason game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Congratulations to Coach Gorbatuk and his coaching staff on this well-deserved honor!

Community Partners
Hurricane IDA Public Hearing
The Department of Community Affairs (DCA) is holding a public hearing on Thursday, September 8, 2022, from 6 to 8 PM at the Manville High School Auditorium. The meeting is open to the public, and its purpose is to help develop a Hurricane Ida action plan for the $228 million in federal aid allocated to New Jersey. These funds are from the HUD Community Development Block Disaster Relief Program (CDBG-DR). An action plan with public input must be submitted to HUD by the DCA on or before September 28.
Please complete the Ida survey from the DCA if your home was flooded during Hurricane Ida. The link can be found on the Borough's homepage. One must fill out his survey and register to become eligible for funding for a home elevation project or a possible buyout. The DCA wants to hear directly from you. Please take the survey and help the community receive its fair share of the funds to make Manville more storm resilient.
In addition, Governor Murphy's office recently announced funding for a state-wide home elevation program with $30 million allocated from Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) fund. It's vital for homeowners seeking federal aid to take the Ida survey, register, and attend the public hearing to make their voices heard.
