Color Run and Pink Week that just took place!!!
Sincerely, Jack Yates
Hornung Elementary Principal
Color Run - A huge thanks to all of you that submitted registrations for the COLOR RUN on October 1st!!! We have over 470 runners registered! A reminder that “Heaven on a Roll” will be onsite with their food truck on Race Day, so let them do your cooking on Friday. Race times are set:
Junior Kindergarten/Kindergarten: 5-5:20 pm
1st Grade: 5:25-5:45 pm
2nd Grade: 5:50-6:10 pm
3rd Grade: 6:15-6:35 pm
4th Grade: 6:40-7:00 p
We will ask people to attend during their child's assigned time slots to help with crowd control, but they can run at any time if they have multiple children or scheduling conflicts.
Pink Week - We appreciate your support during Pink Week. Our kids brought in change to support St. Joes’ Cancer Center in Brighton. It was wonderful to see everyone wearing PINK on Friday.
Your PTO,
President: Deanne Ferrell
Vice President: Jami Kilduff
Treasurer: Karen Nicholson
Secretary: Bill Rockwell
Don't forget your mask for the bus

Counselor Corner
Hello from your Hornung Elementary School Counselor! I am so excited to welcome you all back for another amazing year! Although some things this year may still look different, your counselor is available to help support your children with Social-Emotional Learning. I will be providing classroom lessons, small group activities, and individual support this year. This month's lessons will focus on building connections in the classroom with peers. The Elementary Counselor Team also has the BAS Elementary Counseling website for ideas and resources to be used at home! Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns that you may have, and I will do my best to support your child.

The McKinney Vento Act
The Brighton Area Schools is part of a consortium to serve students in temporary living situations that provides financial support for educational needs, referral for housing, clothing and other needs, general support and technical assistance. To ensure compliance with federal law, all school staff must help identify student living in the following situations: emergency shelters/transitional housing, motels/hotels, car, parks or public spaces, shared housing due to a loss of housing or economic hardship, or living temporarily with non-parent or guardian.
The district’s homeless liaison is Starr Acromite and each building has trained staff members to assist in the endeavor. Our consortium contact at the Livingston Educational Service Agency is Candice Uyttendaele.
Please contact your building principal or Starr Acromite at 810-299-4040 for information/assistance.
