#25DaysUntilSpring, #TimeForaNewFishingLure
Fishing Lures & Goals
Do you recall the preservice discussion we had about old fishing lures and why we hang on to them while we sometimes hesitate to use the shiny new ones that we find? We have now been in session for six months and I am curious about a few things. What have you tried in your classroom that was new this year? Was it scary to try or were you excited? Did it work? Will you do it next year!? Why or why not? What lesson have you used that is a good old stand by success year after year? Have you modified it at all? Why do you think it is successful? What feedback do you get from the students when you are done with it?
Recall, we ended this preservice discussion with goals for the school year? Do you remember what you had written down? I have read through them a few times to see what each of you wanted to accomplish and attempted to gauge where you are at, but I am not in your classroom all the time so I am not a good judge of this. I have placed a copy of your goals sheet in your mailbox. Take a second this weekend to read it over. Are you close to accomplishing your goal? What do you need in order to get it done?
Someone at Google Messed Up, I Think
Over the last four years we have been using Google Drive for cloud storage. A few of you have noticed a pop-up that says "Google Drive is Going Away Forever." While this is true, it is important to know that the cloud storage that is provided by Google is not going away, just Google Drive. It is being replaced by Backup and Sync. I had the chance last night to install Stream on my computer last night and it is quite simple. The only noticeable difference is that all of your files in Google Drive are moved into a folder called "My Drive" and you will also have a folder called "Team Drives" (See picture below). Your files will still be there. So why is it being replaced? It is hard to say, but I am going to venture to guess that with the advent of self-driving cars, Google thought of a better use for the name "Google Drive". Feel free to download and install it using this download page. If you end up needing help, put in a quick help ticket or stop by my office.
Google Stream
Here is what Google Stream does to your folders. It is harmless
Google Install Error
I did get this privacy setting error when I updated. If you click "open system preferences" and check the box that allows Google to install on your system it will work. Again, if you need help just do a help ticket or find me.
Lip Sucker Madness
Student Council did a great job of selling lip suckers last week. Several students loaded up on them and shared with all of their friends. What's in store for your next event, guys?
Heads up
I have been in and out of rooms over the last few weeks and noticed a couple of occasions where the teacher is teaching and an email notification pops up on the screen at the front of the room. It was not a huge issue as it was a daily email such as announcements. With that being said, we sometimes send out emails that should not be viewed by students (ISS/OSS, heads up on medical situations, or a "please watch for" type email). These are meant to be for your eyes only. If you use your computer to project to the overhead you may want to consider disabling or changing the settings. Instructions are below:
- Open Microsoft Outlook
- Click on "Outlook" in the top left
- Select Preferences
- Select Notifications and Sounds (Alarms Clock looking thing)
Mid-Point SLO
A number of you have met with myself or Mrs. Eide about your SLO. If you have not scheduled your mid-point SLO meeting, please get in contact with us and get that scheduled.
It's Big Four Time

Did you know that we have some Middle School Students that are competing in the State Tournament this weekend?! Good Luck to them as they wind up their season over in Sioux Falls. Click the link for SDPBS Live Stream today and tomorrow.
