Holy Name Highlights

September 11, 2020

A Patriot Day Prayer

We Place in Your Loving Arms

God of love we place in your loving arms the thousands of innocent lives that were lost on that unforgettable morning of September 11, 2001. We also remember the courage of the countless men and women who put their lives at risk in order to rescue, alleviate and bring solace to the afflicted. Help us to continue to work for a world free from every form of hatred, violence and ignorance. May terrorism -- in all its forms -- disappear from the face of the earth.

Amen.

Oct. 7-8- Parent Teacher Conferences-See below for more information

Oct. 9- 1:15 Dismissal

Oct.12-16- Fall Break

On the original school calendar we were scheduled to be out of school on Friday, September 25 for Oktoberfest. Due to the cancellation of that event, and the need to make up the original start date of school (August 4), we will be IN SCHOOL on Friday, September 25.

New Main Entrance

Our new main entrance from 17th Ave, (door 17) is officially open! From now on any visitors coming to our building are asked to use this door. Please use the buzzer to the left and we will let you in.

Attendance and Handbook Reminders

Parents and Guardians,

Please remember to call the office if your child is absent and tell us why and what symptoms the child is having. Here is an excerpt from our handbook. The whole handbook can be found on our website under Family Resources.

ABSENCES DUE TO ILLNESS The school office should be notified of any absence by 9:00 a.m. If we do not receive communication from parents, the absence will be marked as unexcused.

Greetings from the Oktoberfest Committee!

As you have probably heard, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the Oktoberfest event this year. However, the Oktoberfest Big Raffle is still on! Without the Oktoberfest event, your support of the Big Raffle is more important than ever! Each year, the profit from Oktoberfest is used to support critical operations of the parish and school. Did you know that the Big Raffle directly benefits each school family? Without the proceeds from the Oktoberfest and Big Raffle, tuition and fees would be significantly higher. We are asking EVERY school family to support the Big Raffle in any way they can. Can you buy a ticket? Great! Can you sell a ticket or two? Super! Ticket price a bit steep for your family? Consider splitting a ticket with family or friends! Every little bit will help us achieve our goal!

Parent/Teacher Conferences

In an effort to continue limiting the number of people in our building, and to avoid close contact between multiple parents and teachers, we will have virtual parent/teacher conferences in October. Next week teachers will begin sending out information about signing up for meeting times. Days set aside on the school calendar for conferences are Wednesday and Thursday, October 7-8.

PTO News

Spirit Wear Masks are here!

The masks that were ordered with the spirit wear have arrived and were distributed today. So were the handful of sweatshirts and shirts that were re-printed. If you have any questions, please contact the office.

The Mum Fundraiser was a huge success! This will fund one of PTO's annual expenses, so Thank You to all who purchased. The mums will be delivered to Holy Name next Thursday, September 17th. They will be sorted by order form and can be picked up before or after dismissal. Please plan to pick them up on Thursday as we cannot predict the weather or store them indoors.

Thank you Middle School families for hosting the 1st Quarter Staff Breakfast this morning! The teachers had a great spread to choose from and I'm sure felt the appreciation you showed them. The 2nd Quarter Staff Breakfast will be hosted by the Primary Hallway families in early November.

HN PTO Room Parents

The Holy Name PTO is STILL looking for volunteers to serve as Room Parents for the 2020-2021 school year. We could use help for Mrs. STINSON and Mrs. BUCKEL. We would love to assign two parents per classroom, so if your teacher is not listed, we might still need an extra helper. Room parents typically help collect donations towards birthday, Christmas and/or end of year gifts for the teacher (sending an email to student families with Mrs. Beeson's help). They can also help the teacher gather supplies for any class activities or parties (setting up a 'sign up genius' is easy and I can help you get started). If you would like to donate your time and talent to your student's class, please contact Lisa Rizzi at lisarizzi@hotmail.com or 317-441-4068. Thank You!
