Principal's message
Dear Parents/Guardians and Students:
Welcome back to Pasco High School for the 2020-2021 school year. I hope you have had a safe, enjoyable summer and are ready to return for the coming school year. I am thrilled to be back at school and surrounded by the tremendous amount of potential at PHS. High School is an amazing opportunity for students to prepare for their future. PHS has made a long-standing commitment to provide students with personalized learning experiences to prepare them for college, career, and life.
It is our goal to have everyone fully registered and ready to begin class on Monday, August 24, 2020, both virtually and face-to-face.
Please carefully read all of the enclosed information to help you and your student have a successful start to the school year. We have included several topics around the questions we have been receiving the past few weeks. We will continue to update our information as things change and send out weekly newsletters.
Serving as your principal is just as great of an honor as it is a responsibility. I believe that the basis of our future accomplishments will be found in the control of our combined efforts and the strength of our collaboration. I look forward to meeting and working with you all.
If you have any questions, please call the school office at (352) 524-5500. We look forward to seeing all our students on August 24, 2020 for a wonderful opening of school.
Sincerely,
Kari Kadlub

School Arrival Guidelines
Hallway Guidelines
GO WITH THE FLOW and STAY TO YOUR RIGHT!
The flow of traffic in the hallways are going to flow just like traffic in the streets. You will always stay to your right. It is important that you think before you walk and focus that you are remaining on the right side at all times. Social distancing will be expected at ALL TIMES. The expectation will be that you remain 6ft away from everyone when walking in the halls.
Lunch Guidelines
Students will have an option to sit inside the cafeteria (every other seat), outside at the tables (one student per bench), on the planters in the courtyard (6ft apart) or the additional seating area to the right of the cafeteria. Your homeroom teacher may open their classrooms for lunch as well. If you choose to stay in HR, you will have an assigned seat. During the entire lunch time, all students will be required to be seated if eating. No one is permitted to be standing up, or walking when eating their food or snacks. When you are moving, walking or standing anywhere during lunch, you must have your mask on.
Online Free and Reduced Meal Application
Online Free & Reduced-Price Meal Applications are NOW available for the 2020-2021 school year. All members of the household should be included on the application (1 application per household). Click here to complete your application today: https://myschoolapps.com/Application
School Dismissal Guidelines
Students need to remove their belongings from their lockers prior to 7th period. Students will NOT be allowed to enter lockers after the 7th period bell.
Students will follow guidelines placed to meet CDC policies and regulations for everyone’s safety. This includes the direction and flow of the walking areas, in addition to dismissing from the appropriate dismissal areas as written below.
There will be no bell rang at dismissal. Students will be provided further instructions via announcements. There will be no gathering in the hallways, courtyard, or lunch area.

If students have met the requirements they should fill out the Mach form for parking located at https://phs.pasco.k12.fl.us/mform/view.php?id=61230
If this is done before the school year, Mr. Brady will issue you a parking permit in the first few days of school. He will be available during all lunches in or around the cafeteria.
If you have multiple vehicles an additional parking permit may be purchased for $5 on the ACORN system for the same spot.
Parking Lot Rules and Consequences:

Q&A
Mask Requirements on campus at ALL times
When to Wear/Remove a Face Covering
- Remember, COVID-19 is primarily transmitted through speaking, coughing, or sneezing.
- The face covering must cover your nose and mouth completely.
- A face covering is required on all school buses, in all District buildings, in all school buildings and during all school-sponsored events and activities. This requirement is applicable to all students and to all employees, parents, and visitors entering the buildings and/or attending a school event. Athletes will be encouraged, but not required to wear face coverings during practice and play.
- Everyone is responsible for supplying their own face coverings. School buildings will be stocked with a limited number of disposable face masks for emergency situations only.
- The face covering should be put on upon arrival at any school or District building before exiting your vehicle in the parking lot. Face coverings must be worn on the bus.
- The face covering must remain in place while inside all buildings, including as you walk into the school or district building, when working in or walking through common areas such as hallways, stairways, and elevators, and whenever you are in any room, including classrooms, or enclosed area where people are present.
- Face covering may be removed outdoors where social distances of 6 feet is possible, when in a room alone with the door closed, and at the end of the day after exiting the building. Those students taking a bus must keep the mask in place until they have exited the bus.
- · Since eating and drinking with a face covering in place is not possible, it can be removed during meal or snack times. Social distancing of at least 6 feet is still recommended during these times.
Daily Screeners
Parents, we are counting on you to screen your student for illness every morning before you send them off to school. The district will NOT be providing a DAILY health screening for either students or staff.
Use this Link to access a Student Screener.
Students exhibiting any of the following symptoms should remain home and not attend school: (Student Illness Exclusion Letter).
Fever (greater than 100.4);
Sore throat;
New uncontrolled cough, that causes difficulty breathing (for students with chronic allergic/ asthmatic cough, a change in their cough from baseline);
Diarrhea, vomiting or abdominal pain;
New onset of severe headache, especially with a fever. ***
Other symptoms listed by the CDC include chills, fatigue/muscle or body ache, new loss of taste or smell, and congestion or runny nose. Many children have very mild or no signs or symptoms of illness.
If you still have questions about when to seek emergency medical attention.
Expectations for Picking up Ill Students: Parents if your student becomes ill while at school, you will need to have a plan for timely pick up. The CDC states that in developing plans for placing students with symptoms in an isolation area, schools should be mindful of appropriate safeguards to ensure that students are isolated in a non-threatening manner, within the line of sight of adults, and for very short periods of time.
Other Considerations:
It will be important for families to emphasize and model healthy behaviors at home and to talk to their students about changes to expect this school year (social distancing, face coverings, hand hygiene). Consider using this checklist for families to prepare for in-person education.

Philanthropic Educational Organization: Women Helping Women Reaching for the Stars
Be Involved: Become a member of PHS School Advisory Council (SAC)
A School Advisory Council (SAC) is a link between the schools and the local community. It provides for active participation by the various shareholders in the school community in identifying critical student needs and developing goals and plans for meeting those needs. The shareholders are parents/guardians, business people, students, other community interests, professional educators, and other school staff. Shared decision making among all shareholders of the school community, both internal and external, can benefit the school and produce better student outcomes. A School Advisory Council is a resource to the school and the school Principal. The term advisory is intended to mean: assist, suggest, recommend, inform and consult.
If you would like to nominate someone to be a member of the 2020-2021 SAC, please complete the form below. All nominations are due by August 28, 2020.
