From the music room:
Hello parents and students. It is getting really close to the end of the year! Which means that instruments need to begin coming back. If your student is in K-3rd grade, and has a music kit, they are welcome to keep them. If you no longer need it, you can bring them back as well. If your student is in 4th or 5th grade, I will need their recorders and drumsticks back. There will be some activities in our music lessons with recorders and drumsticks until the 2nd to last week of school, so they are welcome to keep them until then.
The FINAL day to return drumsticks and recorders is Monday, June 21st. The cost for a missing or broken piece is $6. ($6 for the recorder and $6 for the drumsticks.) We will have a competition to see which class can get theirs turned in first! So let the games begin!!
We will also have an end of year culmination video of students' projects, videos, performances, etc. I am taking any form of music performance from kids. It can be a video of them singing their favorite song, a song we learned in a lesson, a rhythm pattern they created and played, bucket drumming, recorder, even a picture they drew. If they need any ideas or suggestions, please don't hesitate to reach out to me!
Thank you!
Ms. Coburn

MSD Now Offering Transitional Kindergarten
Beginning in the fall of 2021, Monroe School District will be offering FREE Transitional Kindergarten (preschool) for children who are not currently in an early learning program, are age eligible (must be turning 5 years old between September 1, 2021 - August 31, 2022), and reside within the Monroe School District boundaries.
Our goal is to provide families with the opportunity to ensure their students begin their school careers ready for kindergarten. This program will provide an equitable start for students by offering a high quality early learning experience before they enter the traditional kindergarten classroom. Students will be screened in the late spring and summer and may qualify based on need.
Families interested in having their child participate in the Transitional Kindergarten program should complete an online application. Forms received by June 1, 2021, will receive priority. Learn more here.
