PRINCIPAL MESSIA HONORED WITH QUESTAR III AWARD
Last night, Algonquin Middle School Principal, Rob Messia, was presented with the Questar III BOCES School Library System Administrator of the Year Award! This award is given to an administrator who gives outstanding support to the school library program and, in turn, supports the students we serve. Read more here.

FIELD DAY AT WEST SAND LAKE ELEMENTARY
PES STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN ANNUAL SERVICE DAY
Poestenkill Elementary School students participated in the annual Service Day! Students put on a concert for senior citizens/nursing home residents; made Craft Kits for Albany Med Children's Unit; created Rainbow Rocks for Seniors; made Tile Coasters for Meals on Wheels; developed Birthday Boxes and Birthday cards; created Busy Books and Game Bags for AMC Kids Emergency Room; made Veteran and firefighter cards/bags; did Gardening and Planting and Summer decorations; made Dog and Cat toys for Humane Society and Mailman treats; and created Police treat bags and Snack bags for Bread of Life Food Pantry.
ALEX GABOURY WINS 1ST PLACE IN STUDENT GAZETTE COMPETITION

AP GRADUATE COMPETES ON MASTERCHEF TV SHOW

COCCA, MORONE, WARE COMPETE AT NYS TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS
Jamie Cocca, Sophia Morone and Lydia Ware competed at the NYSPHSAA Track & Field Championships at Middletown High School. Cocca placed second in the Discus with a throw of 159-0 and fourth in the Shot Put with a toss of 55-4 ¾. Both Morone and Ware competed in the 200-meter run in Division I. Morone placed 11th overall with a time of 22.77 seconds while Ware came in 14th at 26.21.
BASEBALL MAKES IT TO SECTION 2 CHAMPIONSHIP GAME
The varsity baseball team entered the Section II, Class A tournament as the No. 6 seed and pulled off two upsets en route to advancing to the championship game. In the title matchup, the team fell to Ballston Spa. Congratulations on a great season!
HS STUDENTS TEACH 2ND GRADERS ABOUT HONEY BEES
Mrs. Haworth's, Mrs. Long's and Mrs. DeMerchant's second graders traveled from West Sand Lake Elementary to the High School to learn about honey bees from Ms. Boulay's Biology and Horticulture students!
WSL THIRD GRADE STUDENTS VISIT JOE BRUNO STADIUM
As part of Education Day, West Sand Lake third grade students visited the Tri-City ValleyCats and got to see former Averill Park star pitcher, Greg Allard, who plays for the Albany Dutchman!
SEVENTH GRADE STUDENTS HEAD TO JIMINY PEAK
7th Graders at AMS have participated in team building activities throughout this year. Last week, the culminating activity was a trip to Jiminy Peak's Aerial Adventure Park. The students did an incredible job of supporting each other and building each other up, and had a lot of fun at the same time!
DEC OFFICER TALKS BUGS WITH SECOND GRADER STUDENTS
Brian Duffy from NYS Department of Environmental Conservation Stream Biomonitoring Unit came in to talk bugs with 2nd grade students at Poestenkill Elementary!
GLANTON, PASCUCCI HONORED WITH EXCELLENCE IN LEADERSHIP AWARDS
Megan Glanton and Avery Pascucci were recognized as Suburban Council Excellence in Leadership Award winners following the spring sports season.
FRENCH 8 STUDENTS VISIT QUEBEC CITY
Algonquin Middle School French 8 students traveled to Quebec City over Memorial Day Weekend.
SUMMER CAMP FOR FRESHMEN / MODIFIED VOLLEYBALL PLAYERS
A summer camp for incoming freshmen and modified volleyball players will be held from Aug. 19-23 from Noon to 3:00 p.m. in the High School Main Gym. Read more here.
FALL SPORTS REGISTRATION
Fall sports registration will be open on the FamilyID website from July 22 to August 5. In the meantime, please schedule your child's physical with his/her primary care physician. Please remember that appointments book up quickly so now is the time to schedule that appointment. Copies of the physical are due to either the APHS or AMS health office by August 5.
