MYP Info
As part of our agreement as an IB World School, we are in the midst of preparing for our reauthorization from IB. This involves making sure that our IB documentation has been reviewed and updated and having many reflective conversations among staff about how we can continue to improve our IB practices. We have recently submitted documentation to IB to prepare for our visit with the IB team of evaluators in October 2022. It is exciting to see how dedicated our staff is to providing the best middle school experience for students, despite all the challenges that we have been facing the past few years!
Supporting Students Observing Ramadan
RMS is working hard to support our students who are observing Ramadan, please share the following information with your student so they are supported at school.
- We will accommodate students needing to pray in the conference room in the office.
- Students who are fasting may need/want an alternative space other than the lunchroom during lunch. We will use the library as a space for students who are fasting.
- Fasting can take a toll on an individuals physical and mental state, RMS staff will work collaboratively to accommodate to students needs.

Minnesota Urban Debate League update:
Ramsey’s Debate team continues to do extremely well! On Tuesday, March 22, students competed in Murray’s virtual debate tournament. The topic this year is about replacing the US’ water infrastructure, and we know our students are learning a lot.
Here are the results for this tournament:
In the Rookie Division, we would like to congratulate the partnership of Coen & Nelson & Morrissette for taking home a THIRD PLACE team award! The partnership of Anderson & Lavery took one home for 11th place, Gore & Miles Desjardins for 13th place, Bequette & Nikolai for 14th place, and Weaver & Sateren-Zoller for 16th place. There is also a speaker award portion at every tournament and Isla Coen earned a SECOND PLACE speaker award, Ruby Nelson placed 6th place, and Laine Morrissette placed in 15th place.
As for the JV Division, huge congratulations to the partnership of Kahnert & LaSalle for earning a SECOND PLACE team award! The partnership of Baxter-Kauf & Zimmerman closely followed with a FOURTH PLACE team award. Furthermore, Eleanor LaSalle earned a speaker award for THIRD PLACE, Ella Kahnert for FOURTH PLACE, Andorra Zimmerman for 9th place, and Kiernan Baxter-Kauf for 10th place. It is always an amazing accomplishment to finish in the top ten. Nicely done, Ramsey Middle School debaters!
