What's Happening this Week?

Polser Families,

It was a great first week of school! Thank you so much parents for working with us to ensure our students are arriving and dismissing from school safely. We appreciate everyone working together to move our traffic lines in the morning and afternoon. A huge thank you to PTA for the beautiful balloon arch for the back to school photo opportunities for all of our students.

Remember that breakfast and lunch are no longer free for students. Parents are responsible for setting up their child's lunch account following the instructions below. Please know that if you are in need of free or reduced meals, an application must be completed every year to qualify.

Orientations will begin on Monday, August 15th from 5:00-6:00 p.m., for Kindergarten through 2nd grade. Kindergarten will be in the library, 1st grade in Room 130, and 2nd grade in the Science Lab. On Tuesday, August 16th, 5:00-6:00 p.m. 3rd - 5th grade will host their orientations. 3rd grade will be in their individual classrooms, 4th grade in Mrs. Ingram's room, Room 220, and 5th Grade will be in the library.

If you missed PreK/ECSE orientation, please see the links below for back to school information for each teacher's classroom.

Please make sure you have your car tag displayed through the entire dismissal line to help all of our staff load our students. I am calling your name when you enter the car line, however we want to ensure that students are added quickly as you reach the end of the line to exit our front parking lot. Please DO NOT enter through our exit to park. You will need to pull in the entrance off Polser road and turn in through the first opening to park and pick up your child. There is one way in and out of our parking lot. If you enter our car line early, you will be asked to pull forward and fill all of our spots, in two lanes of traffic. You are not to wait on Polser road and block traffic; there are signs posted and you can be ticketed. We ask that you NOT arrive before 3:15 if picking up a student in K-5th grade. This helps us release our PreK students. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

If you are interested in serving on our Building Leadership Team as a parent, or business owner within the community, please email me at phelpsl@lisd.net. I am in need of two parents to serve on our BLT committee, one parent, and one community member. Our committee meets after school at 3:45 p.m. 4 times per year.

Please make sure you are dropping off students between 7:15-7:45 a.m. There are not teachers on duty before 7:15 and this leaves students attended which is not safe.

Tardies begin on Monday, August 15th. Please make sure your child is through the front entrance by 7:45 a.m. The doors will lock automatically at 7:45 a.m. If your child is late, there will be a sign posted at the front drive, and parents must park and enter the building to sign their child in at the office for the day. Please do not drop off your child and have them enter the building on their own. This has changed due to updated security reasons. We do not want unattended children left in the front drive after the morning duty staff has entered the building. Adults, not students, must use the video monitor and be entered by our office staff following security procedures. We appreciate your cooperation.

Lunch visitors are welcome after Labor Day, 9/6 for Kindergarten-5th Grade. We do not allow lunch visitors for our PreK/ECSE students as it is too difficult a transition for our little ones. If visiting for lunch, all adults must sign in with a valid photo ID at the front office window before entering the cafeteria. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

I have included flyers from the counseling department below - please contact Ms. Rupert, Counselor, if you have any questions.

Don't forget to complete all of your back to school forms in Skyward. This is important information for our teachers!

Thanks again for a wonderful first week of school! It's going to be a great year. Please let me know if there is anything I can do.

Have a great week,

Mrs. Phelps
