Important
Field Day - May 3rd
Where: Hosp Campus
Volunteers:
1. Report to Mrs. Ellis, in the front office to receive your volunteer badge (please make sure to bring identification)
2. At 8:30, you will need to go to the gym.
3. A leader will be assigned for each grade level at this meeting.
4. Each assigned leader will be responsible for reading the directions for that particular event.
5. Each assigned leader will need to also see Coach Morgan to receive a whistle.
Children need to…
- Wear Shorts, Grade level T-shirt, Tennis Shoes, Sunscreen (no sharing due to allergies), Ball Cap and Sun Shades
- · Bring Sack lunch with child’s name on it, or you may go through the lunch line, and water bottle labeled with child’s name

Reminders:
· It’s important to be at each event on time!
· Trash cans will be set up around the building so students will have easy access to throw their trash away.

STAAR TESTING DATES
Please mark your calendars .......our campus will be closed to ALL visitors during the below dates (Monday-Friday) in compliance with STAAR testing guidelines.
- May 13-17
Testing Days
- May 13 - 3rd and 4th grade math
- May 14 - 3rd and 4th grade reading
- May 15 - 5th grade science
The following applies to ALL grades/students, Monday - Friday of the testing week, even if your student IS NOT taking the STAAR test.
- No eating lunch with your student.
- No student deliveries will be accepted - this includes lunches, library books, homework, water bottles, etc. Everything must come to school with your student.
- If your child forgets their lunch, they must purchase it from the cafe - so ensure your child has $ in their meal account at My Payments Plus.
- No volunteers for any reason.
- Do not schedule Dr appts or early dismissal on testing days (for 3rd/4th/5th grades only). Students will not be pulled out of testing.
- For grades 3-5, your teacher will provide further STAAR testing details in the coming months.
Academics
Math
Students will classify two-dimensional shapes based on parallel or perpendicular lines, or by the size of angles.
Science
Students will explore the life cycles of beetles and radishes.
Reading
Students will begin reading expository texts and answer corresponding questions. The questions are based on authors purpose, non-fiction text features, main idea, and summaries.
Writing
Students will begin finding reliable sources to complete a research project, which includes a written speech and presentation.
Grammar/Spelling
Students will determine the meaning of figurative language.

- Hosp is a peanut/nut free campus. Please be sure that snacks are allergy free before sending it to school.

Mrs. Voxland
My name is Lindsay Voxland and I am so excited to join the Hosp Elementary family this year! I am thrilled to be your child’s 4th grade teacher! I have been teaching at St. Philip’s Episcopal School of Frisco for the past 5 years and I taught in Irving ISD before that. This will be my second year teaching 4th grade and I am so happy to be in this spot! I feel very lucky to be in this profession doing what I love! I received my Bachelor’s Degree from the University of North Texas and I received my Master’s Degree from Dallas Baptist University. Go Mean Green and Patriots! I know this will be a great year of learning and I look forward to getting to know my students!
