SHOUT OUTS!!! & Weekly Announcements

1st Semester Formal Observations are going very well! Thank you so much for allowing us in to see the high quality instruction and engaging and technology-based lessons in your classes. We hope to complete the first round of annual observation by Thanksgiving Break. Please make sure you complete your pre-observation lesson template online before we come in which is assigned to you as a task after you schedule your observation in the TalentEd system. You should receive an email when it is assigned which prompts you to edit your portion of the lesson template. You can read our portion of the observation immediately after your scheduled observation.

We have recently placed 22 additional bulletin boards throughout the hallways. These are the new designated areas in which we will advertise our events, fundraisers, and other school functions. Flyers & advertisements should NO LONGER be placed directly on the walls (dry wall, brick walls, tiles, or any other wall coverings.) This will provide specific designated areas in which students can catch up on what is happening at BDU while simultaneously help to beautify our hallways, decrease the clutter, AND most importantly sustain our walls and reduce tape related damage.

Please be vigilant during your supervision duty to ensure all non-utilized classrooms are locked with the lights off. We have had a couple of minor incidents in which students do not make the best choice (inappropriate comments written on the board, shuffling of desks and chairs, etc) in an unsupervised classroom that is left open for them to access. Your continued efforts in maintaining high quality supervision is appreciated.

Shout outs to our You Make a Difference award winner Al Coleman for his hard work getting the U-Cafe' back up and running, engaging our students in leadership activities, facilitating opportunities for our students to engage in college and career education field trips, and working hard to ensure BDU students are represented well! You are an amazing educator Al and we are so appreciative for ALL that you do.

A big thank you to Will Sibley, Lisa Stephens, Al Coleman and the Student Council members, Class Officers, and many of the club members and sponsors for putting on an AWESOME Halloween Dance and Haunted House! This was easily one of the best attended events that BDU has every had! Your hard work and efforts contributed to the creation of a very enjoyable evening for everyone. :)

Did you know that we have officially submitted our field trip request for a group of students to travel to Spain & Morocco in March 2017 during our spring break? Congratulations to EJ Jzar for making her dream become a reality and an AMAZING opportunity for some of our students!

Talk about a team player! A quick shout out to Brian Rappoport who has jumped into BDU like he was never gone as our new permanent building sub! We missed you Brian! Thank you so much for supporting our students and engaging yourself to support the staff, students, and parents at BDU.

Thank you to Elise Martinelli for all of your hard work with the College Readiness committee to schedule college visits, bring in college representatives, and ensure that our students are eligible and applying for college acceptance and college scholarships! Did you know that over 80% of our seniors have already applied to college? Elise rocks with her hard work ensuring that our seniors are READY for COLLEGE!!!

Shout out to Will Sibley and Andrew East for leading some very engaging professional development last week on GAMING along with some of their awesome female Basement Dwellers!

Final shout out to Crista Carlino for your continued efforts getting the work out there via twitter, smore, email, and U-News just to name a few! Your efforts with our students to help them lead the way in highlighting the amazing opportunities they have to engage themselves in learning both in and out of the classroom are outstanding! Thank you for ALL that you do.
