MISS ALISSA’S COUNSELING CORNER
It has been such a special year working with all of our Dragons.
As their school counselor, I have seen a lot of growth and maturity! I hope that your children seem more resilient, caring and brave to you too! I hope you have a wonderful summer and find lots of time to rest and connect with your littles. Let’s kick summer break off on a positive note with:
Positive Things to say to children to show you care:
You are helpful
I know you did your best
I am grateful for you
You were right
You have good ideas
I love being your parent
I believe in you
You are important
You can try again tomorrow
You are loved
You make me proud
You don’t have to be perfect to be amazing
You are worth it
Don’t be afraid to be yourself
It’s okay, we all make mistakes
It’s good to be curious
I understand you
Our family would not be the same without you
We can try it your way
I appreciate you
I forgive you
I am so glad you are here
What you did was really brave
You can try again tomorrow
You are enough
It’s okay to feel afraid
Your ideas are great
You don’t have to do what everyone else is doing
Anything is possible
You can make difference
I love how you said that
You did that so well
You make my heart full
Not everyone is the same and that is okay
I am so excited to spend time with you
That was a really good choice
And my favorite…
I am listening
Have a wonderful summer, you deserve it!

Library News
Thank you Dragon Families!
It has been a wonderful year in the library at Sierra School. We’ve introduced Novel Effect with our stories, handed out a lot of AR prizes, participated with California Young Reader Medal, and have had two amazing book fairs. The support you gave our school with all of your purchases at our Literati Spring book fair was amazing. With your help we raised about $2000 to purchase new books for the start of our next school year! Thank you to my volunteers for always helping to make book fairs magical: Lori Meek, Vivien T, Zabrina P, Ken C, San Juanita H, Kim Ferrel, Tasha Morton, Laura Culver, and those that popped in to make sure the fair was going well. We have 4 AR high point earners from grades 2-5th that received an end of the year grand prize from our supportive community and Sierra. They will receive a tub filled with books from Face in a Book (El Dorado Hills) and The Bookhouse (Cameron Park), 2 hours of bowling for 4 people from Knotty Pine Lanes (Pollock Pines), a single admission to Gold Bug Park and Mine, a bendable dino book light, a 3d bookmark, a LCD drawing tablet, a squishy toy, candy, and a water squirter. Big Congrats to our super readers: Vivien T, River S, Polly S, and Henry D. Have a wonderful summer, below are some links to reading activities for this summer. See you in the fall!

Hammer Headlines
The final Hammer Headlines of the year! It has been warm over these last few weeks. Please remember to pack your child with a water bottle and closed toed shoes. Most of the activities for this week were played in the shade due to the heat
Transitional kindergarten to second grade students will be warming up, doing stretches, sprints, and games. Students will start with a lap around the cones and then stations with music. Our next activity will involve sprints in six groups. Following the water break students played with the parachute . Students will play a fun game of frisbee tag with two freezers and a unfreezer in the shade. Finally we will be playing four benches or six trees (similar to four corners) in the shade..
Third to fifth grade students will be completing stretching, sprinting, bocce ball, and playing bulldog. Students will start with a lap around the cones and then do stations with music. Our next activity will involve sprints in six groups. Students will be rearranged by speed each heat to sprint against similar speed students.. Depending on the heat either bull dog or parachute. Finally we will be playing six trees as our cooldown activity.
Thank You Everyone for a Wonderful Year,
Coach Hammer
