Math Night
Movie Field Trip on Friday!
This is a reward for Kindergarten for positive behavior, and was auctioned off at the "Light the Night" event last month. Thank you to the kind parent who bid on the item, and enabled this field trip to happen!
A Look at Our Week
I hope that you have had a lovely weekend with your family! We will be getting our hands dirty in the classroom this week, as we explore soil and sand in our sensory tables. We are learning so much about plants through our sugar snap pea/flower plantings. We will be learning about roots, stems, leaves, and flowers. All of the rain that we had last week, should bring lots of new things to observe during our Science lessons in the playgrounds.
Bee day was a HUGE success last week! Check out Mountain Xpress for an article on the event, and ask your child what they learned about bees. We will be watching their bee poetry videos after graduation on June 7th at 1p.m (save the date!)
In other news, this week begins our end of year assessments for Math. If I wrote on your child's latest report that they are not able to rote count to 100 yet, please work daily on this skill. 100 is the goal for this time of year in Kindergarten.
In writing, we will be learning how to write persuasive letters this week. Watch out, you may be on the receiving end of one yourself!! In Fundations we are continuing work on the 5 digraphs - ch, th, sh, wh, ck, writing CVC words and handwriting, and trick words in sentences. We have also begun learning about CVCe words - words that have a long vowel in because of the "bossy e" at the end i.e. make, pine, save, ride, cone etc.
Keep working on sight words, we will begin our end of year reading assessments the following week.
