Spermicide is a chemical that kills sperm. It comes in different forms: cream, gel, foam, film,and suppositories.
How does it work?
- Must be placed deep in the vagina, close to the cervix
- Creams, foams, and gels must be squirted into the vagina using an applicator
- Contraceptives must be placed in back of vagina
How well does it work?
- 29/100 couples will have accidental pregnancies
- works better with another form of birth control
- not as effective as other forms of birth control
What does it protect against?
Spermicide prevents STDs and pregnancy just like a condom.
