Keeping you Informed
Halfway There!
Hello All,
Believe it or not, last Friday marked the official end of the twenty-week marking period. The 2015-16 school year is half over, and it has been a whirlwind so far! There have been a number of things that have made my short time (so far) at Red Jacket memorable. Here are just a few:
-Being walked through the school in July by three outstanding student representatives as part of my interview.
-Getting pied in the face as part of the Spirit Week festivities.
-Being present as our chorus teacher, Ms. Emily McAdoo, recorded The Star Spangled Banner with her choir (this version would go on to be used at our home football games for the rest of the season).
-Proudly showing my family (parents included) our school before Homecoming.
-Honoring one of our students as a National Merit Scholar.
-Recognizing students and staff alike with our monthly achievement awards.
-Playing with the jazz band during the Holiday Concert.
In all of these experiences (and so many others) I have seen the talent, character, kindness, hard work, and perseverance of our students, our staff, and our community. It continually amazes me and makes me proud. It reminds me of my favorite moment when I was watching my very first Red Jacket varsity football game: I looked like a super fan wearing my Red Jacket hat, Red Jacket sunglasses, and Red Jacket sweatshirt! A parent saw me keenly watching the players on the field and asked, "So which one is yours?" I laughed and said, "I'm the principal!" Without missing a beat, he responded by saying, "So they're all yours!"
...and you know what? He's right.
Thank you for your continued dedication to the success of our children.
