Beach Families,

The start of new year often brings about a heightened sense of reflection and a renewed focus on goals and hopes moving forward. As a school our goals and priorities remain deeply rooted in the success of each student- academically as well as their social emotional well being. As we head into January our classrooms will continue the important work of assessing the strengths and needs of each student with an emphasis on looking at their growth since the start of the year. This same information allows us to determine if we are on track in meeting our long-term goals and guides adjustments in a timely manner.

The week prior to break was filled with school spirt! The excitement from students was palpable. The picture above captures the school community filled with grade level and collective pride. There was no shortage of awe from students as they got to see and feel the possibility of being together. Our youngest learners were quick to offer their observation of "there's so many kids!" We look forward to more opportunities for togetherness in the new year.

Lastly, I want to again thank each of you for the many ways you have and continue to contribute to the success of our students. Below is a picture of our caretaker messages to students during conferences. Months later, this display remains a hot spot for students to pause and take note of your heartfelt encouragement and pride in them. It's a powerful reminder of a much larger community that stands with them every day.

In partnership and gratitude,

Kelli

State Assessment Information

As required by the Oregon Department of Education, we are providing you the 30 Day Notice and Opt Out Form. The notice is available in English, Spanish, Vietnamese, Chinese, Russian and Somali on the PPS Research, Assessment, and Accountability website.

Statewide testing is part of our balanced assessment system that offers all students, especially historically underserved students, opportunities to demonstrate their progress. Information provided by student assessments is critical in helping us determine district and school priorities for improving student learning.

If you have questions, please contact your school office.

Thank you,
