W.E.B DuBois
DuBois helped fund the NAACP in NYC. He was a major voice for the African American community. He was also the editor of the magazine called The Crisis. This magazine helped promote the art movement in the African American society.
Marcus Gravey
Garvey founded the UNIA. This foundation promoted self reliance. Garvey believed that Africans should go back to Africa and create a successful business empire. Garvey also believed that the NAACP undermined and discouraged African American Pride and self confidence. His relationship with W.E.B DuBois was that they both had organizations and they didn't agree with one another's organizations. Garvey was soon charged with mail fraud in 1925 and released in 1927 and had to leave the country, unfortunately the UNIA collapsed and fell apart.
Aaron Douglas
Aaron Douglas was an artist from the Harlem Renaissance. One of his famous pieces were The Aspect Of Negro Life. His focus was African history and contemporary life modernism. His artwork was important because he captured W.E.B DuBois pressing for art.

Louie Armstrong was a famous jazz musician and known for playing the trumpet. One of his famous songs were "When The Saints Go Marching In." I think the song was about when Christians go to Heaven and that he wanted to go to Heaven with the Saints. I think the song is important because it was a well known song. And it inspired people to listen to him and even write songs.
Langston Hughes
Langston Hughes was a famous well known writer in the 1920's. One of his writings were called, "Dreams". This writing was about holding onto dreams. His writing was important because it was very inspirational.
Summary
- Considering many African Americans had few rights this time period was their time to shine. Many famous African Americans began to write poetry, create art, sing, and even do stage plays. This was a huge deal to the African American society. The NAACP helped the African American society. W.E.B DuBois was a major voice in the African American society.
- If it wasn't for him some of these events may not have happened. Many dreams of people had came true. Considering how hateful was towards black people this was their freedom. They had felt independent and strong. Art was a major part in this because it show cased how people felt when they were dancing and singing with others. You could tell people were enjoying their lives and not in fear.
