Horace Mann students travel to Hershey to compete!
Mr. Dave Sheeran and Mrs. Elizabeth Woods took IASD fourth graders on a two tiered competition: (1) Online virtual (qualifier) Finalist announced 1/20/22 (2)Hershey face-to face 2/8/22.
This enrichment opportunity allowed our students to work collaboratively on teams to construct inventions which incorporated STEM, Collaborative Learning, and Problem Solving while being fully aligned with our CKLA Language Arts Curriculum : Eureka - “Inventions and Inventors History of Inventions” IASD was the only district in the STATE that had all their projects selected to present in Hershey.
1,000 projects were entered and only 65 were invited to Hershey for the finals. We finished second in the entire Commonwealth!! Congrats to the students and staff for making this event possible.
Masking on school transportation
Effective February 25, 2022, CDC is exercising its enforcement discretion to not require that people wear masks on buses or vans operated by public or private school systems, including early care and education/child care programs. CDC is making this change to align with updated guidance that no longer recommends universal indoor mask wearing in K-12 schools and early education settings in areas with a low or medium COVID-19 Community Level. School systems at their discretion may choose to require that people wear masks on buses or vans.
As such the Indiana Area School District will fall in alignment with the CDC recommendation and masks are no longer required on school transportation.
