Team Meadow Update
Staff Update - March 8, 2020
Every person needs a place that is furnished with hope.
-Maya Angelou
Thinking about the environment as a communicator and shaper of values can stir up a new sense of the significance of care and education work. When teachers and parents find themselves in environments that are beautiful, soothing, full of wonder and discovery, they feel intrigued, respected, and eager to spend their days living and learning in this place. Aren’t these the very feelings we want the children to have?
-Margie Carter
Team Meadow,
I hope everyone was able to enjoy some of the beauty given to us this weekend.
Staff Meeting - I look forward to seeing you at our staff meeting tomorrow after school. Please be sure to bring your copy of the Social Justice Standards (from our Teaching Tolerance PD) to our staff meeting. Unless we inform you otherwise, we will plan on meeting in the STEM Room (upstairs)
Teacher of the Year nominations are due this Friday! (See info below)
Testing schedules & other important testing info: Please refer to Lauren's email (dated 2/26) for all details regarding spring standardized testing. I've included schedules and device allocation information below.
Lastly, please encourage proper hand washing, use of Clorox wipes, and hand sanitizer during this germ infested season. We've sent home a bazillion kiddos these past couple of weeks.
Have a great week!
Tom
Teacher of the Year Nominations
Each spring, we pause to recognize those among us who represent all of us in the incredibly noble work of our profession. Please take a few moments this week to honor a colleague (or more than one, if you so choose) who you believe represents the qualities of Boone Meadow Elementary's Teacher of the Year.

NEA's Read Across America Has Evolved!
Our student populations are ever-changing and evolving and every year there are new children’s books that reflect that diversity. That’s why NEA's Read Across America is rebranding with a new logo to appeal to students of all ages and backgrounds and a continued mission of “Celebrating a Nation of Diverse Readers.”
Of course, children still love Dr. Seuss, and his birthday on March 2, also Read Across America Day is still an ideal time for a school-wide reading event but with the broadened scope of NEA’s Read Across America, there are activities, resources, and ideas to keep students reading ALL YEAR LONG!
