Board plans to place referendum on March 2020 ballot

At its July 30 meeting, the Board discussed which projects should be included in a future school district referendum question. The Board plans to place a referendum question on the March 2020 ballot. The statutory deadline for the Board to approve a referendum question on the March ballot is December 30, 2019, however Board members are preparing to make that decision in advance of the deadline. The referendum discussion will continue at the next Board meeting on August 13, as the Board prepares to vote on which projects should be included and the total dollar amount.

*Please note, the August 13 Board meeting will begin at 6:30pm, instead of 7pm, at the District Administrative Center at 515 W. Main Street.

Board approves new administrative hire

At its July 30 meeting, the Board approved the hiring of Nichole Satera as the district's new Director of Facilities. Satera will be responsible for developing and maintaining long range facilities plans, coordinating and leading district construction projects, maintaining security systems, fire alarm systems and energy conservation procedures, administering the district's Health Life Safety Program and assisting in the development of the annual budget for Building and Grounds maintenance. She most recently worked as Director of Facilities at McHenry Community Consolidated School District 15. Prior to her work in McHenry 15, Satera worked at Career Education Corporation in Schaumburg. She studied business management at Purdue University, with an emphasis on Spanish, marketing and international business.

Board approves 2020/21 school calendar

At its July 30 meeting, the Board approved the 2020-21 academic calendar.
