Week Two is in the Books!
Today, Mrs. DiNardo did a recess relaunch with each grade level to review our recess expectations and to introduce students to our new "Zones" to keep everyone safe and grades separate at recess. Each zone has a balance of playground equipment, games for the grass and new blacktop equipment as well. Now, if only we would get some good weather, we can have FUN outside!
We practiced two of our safety drills this week; tornado (shelter) and fire. These safety drills are announced, taught and practice in the first couple weeks of school each year. Sometimes the fire drill tone is a little scary for students the first time but they all did a fantastic job of following the teacher's directions to safety.
As families have had more connections with friends and family members, we are getting some questions about what to do when someone you have had close contact with tests positive for COVID- 19. THIS FLYER has a lot of information and explains how you should respond in different scenarios. As always, if you have ANY questions, please give our office a call and we can talk you through the information.
Thank you for your positivity as you are preparing your children for school this year. The support you have given is very evident as students are approaching each day with confidence. Thanks for those great kids!

Note from PTO President
After careful consideration on this, it has been decided to postpone the upcoming Skateland Event scheduled for September 17th. Hillcrest staff has been working very hard to maintain each cohort's exposure to each other during the school day. This event would be counterproductive to what staff are trying to achieve. As for future events, we will decide on them as they come and updates will be posted on the calendar and in future newsletters. Event gathering recommendations are key to decision making during 2020.
Also, should any family need support during this time; please know that your Hillcrest PTO family is here to provide support where possible. Please reach out at your comfort level, to the school or to the PTO board directly. Support could be positive energy, meal drop off, someone to run errands, etc.
