Blanche Dodd Intermediate Mission Statement
It is our mission to educate each child through the use of quality instruction and positive relationships. We will strive to motivate each student to discover their unlimited potential and have a positive impact on their community.
Message from our Principal
Greetings Bobcat Families!
October was packed with fun and learning. Our 5th grade students enjoyed a field trip to the Lewisville Lake Outdoor Learning Center where they spent the day observing and learning about native animals in their habits and about the ecosystem that exists there. We received a very nice email from the director of the center saying how impressed she was with our students and their behavior. Way to show off our Dodd Expectations, Bobcats!
The KHS Volleyball team greeted our students on October 18th during our morning assembly. They discussed responsibility and dedication and demonstrated a few of the drills they do each day to refine their skills. The Dodd students love seeing these student athletes!
Red Ribbon Week was a lot of fun and a wonderful week of encouragement. Red Ribbon Week is an alcohol, tobacco, and other drug and violence prevention awareness campaign observed annually in October in the United States. From dress up days to a Minute to Win it competition between the Krum PD and the Krum FD, the week was a fun way to celebrate being drug free.
Wishing you a Noteworthy November!

Counselor's Corner
We are beginning an extra incentive push to build stronger READERS across our campus.
Each month teachers will be selecting students who are showing an amazing effort to improve
their independent reading levels. Students who receive the "Radical Reader" Award, will have
their name announced on morning announcements, get their picture taken,
and get a chance to select a "free" book to take home!
Please be watching for a new informative newsletter coming soon
that will be packed with helpful information that you can do at home. We are calling it - READ20
Research shows that reading 20 minutes per day will help your child build better self-confidence
and equip them for greater overall success. Please encourage your child to READ 20 minutes at least 5 out 7
days a week for optimal growth.
We invite you to come and hear more about today's reading RIGOR in school at our upcoming
Dodd Literacy Night on November 6th, 6:30-7:30. Please drop by the Guidance Room for more information.
Community Volunteers Making a Difference at Dodd -Appleseed Readers
The Appleseed Readers Club is off to a great start this year! Community members from First United Methodist Church coordinate with our own Mrs. Juarez to come together each year as Mentors of select students. Brenda Carrell, Beverly Barber, Vicky Whitmer, Jane Moynagh, Becky Kennedy, Charlotte Guest, Violet Williamson, Bonny Coffen, Tim Jones, Jamie Whitmer, and Jane Daughetee meet weekly after school with their students to read, write, and build positive relationships.
They have met four times and accomplished getting to know each other, had two reading sessions, and participated in a special time with UNT JETS and TAMS students.
A big thank you to Jane Daughetee the creator and lead volunteer for Appleseed Readers! Our students receive such an amazing benefit from this collaborative effort.
