Adapted In Person Begins Wednesday!
Start with a SELebration!
We are ready for District 34's move to Adapted In Person on Wednesday, April 7! Here are the important upcoming dates:
- April 2: No school (previously designated non-attendance day on approved calendar)
- April 5-6: Staff Planning Days: No Student Attendance - No Asynchronous Learning
- April 5, 7:00pm: Parent program: Cultivating Resilience During COVID with Doug Bolton, PhD
- April 7: (Late start, in person) First Day of Adapted In Person, kickoff of District-wide “SELebration”
- April 7, 8, 9: SELebration continues with transition activities, adapting to new routines and demands, building classroom community
The District will be using planning days on April 5-6, so students will not be in attendance, nor will there be remote learning. Five planning days were provided to every school district in the state by the Illinois State Board of Education to prepare for changes in schedules and environments during the pandemic. Those days do not have to be made up at the end of the year.

As part of D34's SELebration, Dr. Bolton will share current brain and social science research and provide strategies to help parents build resilience in their children -- and themselves -- so together, families can effectively manage stress now, and in the future.
Doug Bolton, Ph.D. is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with Formative Psychological Services in Northbrook. He has worked in schools with children and families for more than 25 years. Dr. Bolton provides consultation, supervision and professional development to parents, educators and clinicians on building children’s resilience, mental health issues in schools and creating trauma-responsive school communities.

Travel Reminders
With the long weekend ahead, please review the travel guidance to make sure that your child can return to school safely on the first day of Adapted In Person on Wednesday, April 7!
An important point to help us keep all members of our community safe, and to reduce the number of close contacts who have to quarantine: Please do not send your child to school while awaiting their COVID test results, or the results of others in your household.
Domestic Travel
If you travel to a state on the yellow list, you do not need to take a COVID test or quarantine upon return. You must maintain strict masking and social distancing and monitor your health for COVID-19 symptoms, both during and after travel.
If you travel to a state on the orange list, you must follow the quarantine guidelines, even if you visit the state for less than 24 hours:
- 10-day quarantine - OR -
- Take a test when you return, and quarantine until you receive a negative test result. The Flick Park testing location has easy online scheduling. - OR -
- Have had COVID-19 (within 90 days after onset of symptoms or, if asymptomatic, their positive test).
International Travel
For international travel, the District follows CDC guidelines requiring at least a seven-day quarantine upon return. The CDC requires all air passengers entering the United States to present a negative COVID-19 test, taken within three calendar days of departure, or proof of recovery from the virus within the last 90 days. Then, 3-5 days after you return, you can test again and return to school with a negative test after 7 days. If you do not test, you can return to school after 10 days.
For Any Travel
Parents must provide negative test results for their children who travel. In all cases, those who have traveled must continue to:
- Monitor for symptoms for 14 days of returning from travel
- Practice distancing and mask wearing
Where to Send Results
Parents should send their children’s test result to your school’s health office:

This system is used exclusively for distribution of school-approved flyers. Your email address will not be shared or used for any other purpose. You also will be able to visit your school’s website to see school-approved digital flyers by clicking the Peachjar button on each school’s website.
Note: Peachjar is free to our schools because community partners pay a small service fee to post and distribute digital flyers (typically much less than the cost to copy and deliver paper flyers).
