Bus Face Coverings as of 2/25/22
Feb. 26: Masks are now optional on BCS school buses.
BCS Students, Parents/Caregivers, and Staff:
The Center for Disease Control released new guidance for school buses late yesterday. I have included it in a link below for your review. Given this new information, face coverings will be optional on BCS school buses effective immediately. This action aligns with the mask protocol that we announced earlier this week. Masks are a personal option both in our schools and offices as well as on our school buses.
I want to reiterate the information we shared previously this week:
- Consistent with our past practices, we will continue to vigorously promote mitigation strategies.
- To maintain a positive level of personal health and well being, it is important to continue monitoring your symptoms daily and to stay home from work or school if you are not feeling healthy and well.
- School nurses will monitor students and staff for symptoms and dismiss those who show symptoms typical of communicable diseases.
- If a student or staff member does test positive, regardless of masking or vaccination, they should stay home for at least five days and isolate from others.
- Masks will still be available to anyone who wants one and we will continue our collaboration with our health partners as often as needed about special cases and any concerning trends in classrooms or schools.
Thank you to our students, families, and staff for your cooperation during the most recent face covering mandate. It is my hope that we will be able to continue the school year without wide-spread interruptions to instruction and nutrition and that our students and staff can enjoy the remainder of this year feeling healthy and well.
Stay safe and be well.
Patrick K. Murphy, Ed.,D. Superintendent of Schools
