Description
koalas are marsupials and they eat gum leaves at night. Koalas have a grey furry body with sharp claws and big bushy ears. They have small beady eyes. Koalas jump from tree to tree and sleep in the fork of a tree. They sleep in the day time. New born babies stay in their mothers pouch. When they are older they ride on their mothers back.

koalas belong to a group of animals called marsupials. A marsupial is an animal which keeps and feels its babies in a pouch for a few months after they are born. The word koala is an aboriginal word meaning no drink.
