Lincoln Mission Statement
The Lincoln Elementary School community will enhance, enrich, and broaden the education of every student through local and global awareness. We will work together to develop high achieving life-long learners who welcome others and their differences .
International Baccalaureate Mission Statement
The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.
To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment.
These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right."
The Learner Profile
The Primary Years Programme is centered around the Learner Profile Traits. They are embedded in the curriculum and in all student action at school and even at home! Student action can be celebrated at home by focusing on these traits. Communicator is engaging in respectful conversations, while risk-taker is when one is encouraged to try new activities. Being principled is being consistent and also balancing an organized life-style. Asking your child deeper questions promotes thinking and reflecting on successes supports a caring environment. Learning with your child is being an inquirer as well as being open minded to different cultural experiences. Taking the time to learn more about your child's schooling is being knowledgeable!
During the PYP Parent Meeting, a question was asked, "How are the traits taught throughout the year?" Great question! They are taught through literature by discussing how characters in stories have specific traits, through our drops in the bucket program, and also through reflection of ourselves. The traits are a way of life at Lincoln!
If you have questions about PYP, please do not hesitate to ask your child's teacher! Lincoln Elementary is committed to the integrity of the Primary Years Programme.
