Ulysses S. Grant

He served as U.S. general and commander of the Union armies during the late years of the American Civil War, he later become the 18th U.S. president. He was entrusted with command of all U.S. armies in 1864. The important thing that Grant did was like said commanded the Union armies and he worked to reconcile the North and South while attempting to protect the civil rights of newly freed black slaves.
