MAP Testing

MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) Testing for the winter begins on Wednesday, November 29th and runs through December 7th. Testing will be in Labs 109, 207, and 236. If you are regularly scheduled to use the labs during this time, please be aware that the labs will be occupied and you will need to make other plans.

ACT Focus--Trimester 2

Trimester 2 is when we all need to focus on the upcoming March ACT for our junior class. One of the biggest issues all students face is pacing themselves when taking a timed test such as the ACT. Please give your students (in all grade levels) exposure to a timed testing format and allow students to track their own progress as they become more familiar with working in a timed environment. Give a portion of an ACT practice to your students and give them a proportionate amount of time to complete those questions. Start with just a few questions or a reading passage and then gradually build up the length of these practice tests throughout the trimester until your students see an improvement in pacing. We have several ACT resources available to students that are linked to the school website. Just have your students access the Academic Resources page on the For Students tab.

CERT (Login--student email, pw--usually warriors or swhs)

Albert.io (Login--student created using an email/username they choose, pw--also student created)--Even if a student is not enrolled in an AP course and would like to utilize an account in Albert to prep for the ACT, they are able to.

Orange Card Party for Trimester 1

Students who had at least a 3.75 GPA, no discipline referrals, and no unexcused attendance events are eligible for an Orange Card. Their reward will be in the auditorium on December 8th, with grades 11/12 eligible students from 9:00 - 10:40 and qualifying students in grades 9/10 from 1:35 - 2:55.

Google Classroom--Using Google Slides for Group Presentations

Students can work together to create a presentation using Google Slides, and then share in Google Classroom. If students are grouped together, they can all work to create and update a single presentation file. Students can work together in class or even from home, they don't have to be in the same place working on their assignment.

Some ideas for assignments include: Student e-books, Choose Your Own Adventure Story (include hyperlinked choices so that readers could select the next step for the characters to take), a magazine, or even a video tutorial.
