1. Introducing the e-hallpass System!
INTRODUCING the online digital hall pass system: e-hallpass!
We are excited to begin using a new digital hallpass system beginning December 20th!
There are many benefits to an electronic hall pass system! It is paperless and easy to use for both the student and the teacher. With the system, we can monitor in real time how many students are out of the classroom at one time, where they are going, the frequency of passes and so much more. Teachers, Administrators, and Security Techs can monitor students who have a pass, including the location, reason, and length of time they are away from class. Administrators can run reports to monitor how and when passes are issued.
Beginning next week, during advisory, teachers will review how to use the system with all students. Classroom teachers will also review the process with students and begin to try it out with full implementation by December 20th!
Please review the videos attached below for more information about the e-hallpass system. For more information visit the website at: https://eduspiresolutions.org/e-hallpass/.
If you have any questions, please reach out! Thank you!
2. In-Person Holiday Concert!
MHHS Holiday Concert
WHEN: Monday, December 20, 2021
Location: Mt. Hope High School Auditorium
We are very excited to bring back our in person holiday concert this year! Due to capacity issues and the requirements for social distancing, this year’s concert will look a little different. We will be breaking up our normal show into two smaller concerts:
Our first performance, which will be at 6:00pm, will include the string ensemble, chorus, concert band, and jazz band. Report time for students will be 5:00pm.
Our second performance, which will be at 7:30pm, will include JIVE, guitar ensemble, vocal ensemble, and symphonic band. Report time for students will be 7:00pm.
We expect each performance to last about an hour. To ensure we do not reach over capacity due to social distancing requirements, we are limiting audience attendance at two guests per performer. Masks will be required for all performers and audience members. Donations will be accepted at the door.
We will be sending more information to you soon, but wanted to share our preliminary details with you as soon as it became available.
Thank you for your continued support of your student’s music education.
Sincerely,
Vicki Boyle
David Lauria

5. Midterm Exam Schedule & Information
Each exam block will be 2 hours allowing teachers to introduce directions and allow students enough time to complete their exams. Students must remain in the testing room for the duration of the block.
If Students are scheduled for SRC/Study during an exam block, and they are in school during that time, they will report to the cafeteria and use the time to study for exams. (Students are NOT required to be in school during a SRC Exam Period).
Friday: ALL CLASSES WILL MEET. Teachers will review their mid-term exam data with students. Semester course teachers will use this day to meet with their students and close out their course grades.
Students will be dismissed after their second block exam. Grab and go lunch will be provided from 12:15 - 12:30
Busses will run as usual in AM and dismissal bus schedule will be released

10. Gentle Reminder: Please limit texting your children at school
Occasionally parents may need to say, "Take the bus today" or "I won't be home until dinner time"...but more and more we are finding that students are texting back and forth with their parents throughout the day. Sometimes, they are upset after getting text messages from their parents for various reasons like being in trouble for grades or about non-school related issues. Other times, they are worried that if they don't answer right away, their parent will be worried or angry. This often causes distractions in classrooms.
Similarly, students are texting parents telling them they're stressed and asking to be dismissed. In these cases, we ask parents to consider telling your child to reach out to a support staff member or other adult to help them get through their day. Parents are encouraged to reach out to the school to let us know if your child is struggling or feeling anxious so we can offer support and strategies to cope. Doing so, empowers our students to build stamina, and helps them find support within the school.
As we know, nowadays, students have a constant lifeline to home. Although this is often a huge benefit, it can deprive them of the opportunity to solve problems on their own. We know students have a lot going on and many are experiencing anxiety. I encourage you to keep communication open with the school and talk to your child about who they can identify as a trusting adult they connect with that they can go to. We have an amazing support staff at school. I have included our Student Support Services flyer HERE and attached below for your reference. PLEASE REACH OUT if you are concerned about your child or if you need any support!
Please note, we are excited to have a new Social Worker beginning at Mt. Hope High School on 12/20: Jillian Traecy. She brings a great deal of expertise and experience working with high school students and will be a great addition to our team!
THANK YOU!
