PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE by Kayla Bell
Dear Families -
Thank you for supporting our Croc Walk!!! It was so nice to see so many students dressed in their class colors running around the track today. We were so fortunate to have sunny weather. Thank you to the many parent volunteers who helped us. I also want to thank KIND and Jamba Juice for our snacks! We are thankful!
We appreciate the continued generous support by our parents and community of the programs that make our school an amazing place. If you did not turn in your Croc Walk donation, it is still not too late. If we meet our goal of $20,000, students will have the opportunity to attend an assembly by Presto the Magician.
Monies raised from our fundraisers are used to support programs that directly impact your child. Your donations support field trips to places like Camp Tilikum, the Audubon Society, the Children’s Theater, Portland Walking Trip, State Capitol, Jackson Bottom and Biz Town. These dollars also support class parties, including this year’s Fifth Grade Send Off Party!!
Your dollars also support our Family Dance, Bingo Night, Art Literacy, Culture Night, resources for classroom teachers, the Chess Club, Passport, Miles of Smiles, Battle of the Books, our Carnival, and our Staff Appreciation. Thank you in advance for your generosity.
Kayla
PS. At the bottom of the Croc Talk are some pictures from recent field trips.

Give it a read and ask your child what (s)he learned and/or enjoyed. Our final project of the school year has been a fun one. The students are creating their own clay sculptures with air drying clay. Thank you for sharing your children with us. We have all had a great year and look forward to next year. Your Art Literacy Team: Cory, Erin, Kirsten, and our newest member Marilyn.

5th GRADE PE SURVEY
· The District is surveying 5th and 8th grade students to gather information for planning, program evaluation, and assessment of progress on the District’s Physical Education and nutrition plan.
· The student survey takes about 20 minutes during the regular school day. Like other surveys, results will be presented only about groups. No individual data will be reported.
· Your child may skip questions or stop filling out the survey at any time. Refusing to participate or withdrawing from the survey does not affect your child's grades or class standing in any way. If you or your child does not want to participate, your child can read or do some other activity while his or her classmates complete the survey.
· A copy of the survey is available from your child's school and is posted at
https://www.beaverton.k12.or.us/district/research-reports
· After reviewing the survey, if you do not want your child to participate, please notify your student’s teacher by Wednesday, May 24.
EARLY RELEASE/TEACHER COLLABORATION
Beginning in the 2017-2018 school year, the District will implement a 90-minute early release on Wednesday afternoons to allow educators time to collaborate and participate in professional development opportunities. We will not have any after school care or activities for children at Nancy Ryles. Please make sure you have a plan for your child.
The Early Release/Teacher Collaboration webpage has an FAQ and an animated video (English & Spanish) explaining Early Release and Teacher Collaboration. Check it out today!
