Before I Kick the Bucket
Nabiha Madda
"A good traveler has no fixed plans, and is not intent on arriving " - Lao Tzu
My name is Nabiha. I am a 16 year old teenage who enjoys travelling and adventure. I am interested in cultural, recreational, active, sports, and adventure tourism. I spend my summers doing humanitarian relief work and would like to participate in VolunTourism.
1) Bungee jumping in New Zealand with my brother
Growing up and being afraid of heights bungee jumping in New Zealand is on my bucket list because I have always wanted to visit a place in Oceania and I like challenging myself and trying new things. I would like to do this with my brother because he is always encouraging me to try things outside of my comfort zone.
2) 7 Wonders of the World
I have always been interested in visiting popular attractions around the world which have included 7 wonders. I want to visit the 7 wonders because I've heard that they are known for their ancient beauty. My parents have been to India for their honeymoon and talk about how beautiful the Taj Mahal is. I personally have always wanted to visit Machu Picchu and spend a week there for VolunTourism.
3) Sponsor a Child
I want to sponsor a child before I get married as a personal accomplishment because I want to make a difference in someone's life. I want to benefit the child I sponsor and visit them. I would possibly consider adopting them.
4) Build a Water Well
Ever since I was 8, I have been extremely involved in humanitarian relief work. I have fund raised money for countries such as Syria, Pakistan, Indonesia, Palestine and parts of Western Africa. During summer of 2014, I participated in this fund raiser through Islamic Relief. Two friends and I challenged ourselves to fund raise $5000 to build a water well that would benefit the individuals in West Africa forever.
5) Edgewalk at CN Tower
Ever since Edgewalk has opened I have always wanted to do it because I have always wanted to overlook Toronto. Although I am afraid of heights, I love challenging myself and trying new things. In early October, I completed Edgewalk with my three friends I did the Islamic Relief campaign and my brother. It was a breath taking view and was very fun.
6) Take a homeless person out to dinner/ Change their life
Every time I visit Toronto it's upsetting to see individuals who are less fortunate suffering. My cousin and I have dragged a person who was trying to commit suicide on the street and gave her money. I have always wanted to impact someone's life for the better.

7) Participate in a Marathon
In middle school, I was an active runner and was 36/96 in the grade 6 cross country race. I love running although, it becomes difficult because of my knee injury. I want to start running regularly again and eventually participate in the CIBC Run for the Cure marathon because my mom has worked for CIBC for 27 years and I want to support my family members who have been diagnosed with breast cancer.
8) Pursue a career in Forensic Psychology or Behaviour, Genetics & Neurobiology
I have always loved crime shows such as Criminal Minds, Dexter, Flashpoint and Prison Break. I have always wanted a career in crime, law, forensics or law enforcement. I want to graduate from UTM with a degree in Forensic Psychology because I want to be a behaviour analyst specialist.
9) Go for Hajj
Hajj is compulsory in Islam if you can afford it. My parents recently completed their second one together and it has inspired me to go. Makkah is a beautiful place to visit because it is very spiritual and it is considered a Holy site.
10) Backpacking through Europe
I have always wanted to visit Europe and would prefer backpacking through Europe rather than taking a tour. Europe is full of beautiful places that I want to explore without restrictions whereas if I took a tour there would be certain restrictions and times to visit these places. It would be a once in a lifetime experience and would cost a lot less. It is something I'd do in my mid 20s-early 30s.
11) Camp in the Rockies
I have been to Calgary about four times and I love spending time outdoors. Lake Louise, Lake Morraine, Jasper National Park, Banff National Park, and the Columbia Icefield Glaciers are all beautiful places to visit. I have been camping in a cabin although I'd love to try it in a tent in the Rocky Mountains. It looks very worth it and peaceful.
12) Bali, Indonesia
Although, I can't swim I love spending time around beaches. I want to learn how to swim then visit Bali because of its white water rafting, surfing and underwater snorkelling. I also want to climb Mouth Batur and watch the sun rise. I think it'd be a good experience to step out of my comfort zone and try something new.
Top Bucket List Entry
My top bucket list entry would Bungee Jumping in New Zealand with my brother. In travel class we did a case study on it and learnt how it was originated in New Zealand. It is known as a thrill-seeking paradise. There is many different types of Adventure tourism which includes, zorbing, kayaking, biking, marine life, swimming, jet boating, tree trekking and mountain climbing. These are all things I'd like to do because they are fun activities that aren't suitable for Canadian weather. My brother has influenced me to become an adventurous person because he is constantly goes hiking, camping and tree trekking. New Zealand is also a place I'd like to visit because there are many sites to see and activities to do in North Island and South Island such as the glaciers, national parks, kiwi spotting, caves, canoeing trips, skydiving. It is a place full of wonderful things to do.
