Happy Valentine's Day to You!
Sharing the good feelings of kindness and friendship
A little note about our Assembly
Our new principal's council presented their slides to the entire school this past Wednesday. Our theme was "What does kindness mean to you?" The kids' slides were terrific and very thoughtfully produced. I was very proud of them as they used the microphone and explained their perspectives on the behavior that makes all of our lives better.
I hope this link works for you.
Calendar news
Be sure to keep your calendar handy as you plan for next Friday, Feb. 20 and the following Monday, Feb. 23, as there is no school held on these days. We hope you can enjoy the time and have some fun. Maybe even do a little reading together.
Valentine's Day hoopla
Thanks to all of the volunteers who helped out with the classroom parties today. I am sure there was plenty of help on the treats and the valentines containers that were carefully built as well. This is the final class party of the year for most classrooms and they are a terrific time for the kids to have fun with their classmates. I am hopeful the parents who join us have fun as well. Many thanks! PS-That's why their are cupcakes as the background today.
Mr. Stokes Pays First Grade a Visit
This gentleman, teacher, biologist, naturalist, conservationist, botanist, and lover of animals, Mr. David Stokes, brings his animal show to our first grade a couple of times each year. He brings live animals, as you can see in the photo, and shares them with the children as they study, fur, fins, and feathers. Ask any first grader, and he/she will tell you all about his visit. Thanks Mr. Heinze for taking the photos.
Mr. Stokes and his bunny friend.
"This is pretty cool!" "A real snake!"
"Will that bullfrog jump out?"
Let's make learning our focus!
The days seem to fly by and I want to remind everyone about how we should continue to keep our focus on learning-sometimes it is easy and sometimes quite challenging. Let's promise to make sure we continue to support each other and let the kids know we appreciate their work and effort. There are times when we need some encouragement to get the job done,, and that's ok too. Here is a sign to remind us what it's all about
