Parker Family Update

October 15, 2021

Hello Parker Families,

I hope this message finds you well and enjoying this terrific fall weather! For the sports fans in our Parker Community, this is the best time of the year! Plenty of exciting action to watch while cheering for your favorite teams. Speaking of that, we are having a "Boston Sports Day" at Parker today (Friday). Keep an eye on @parkerprincipal on Twitter & Instagram for some student/staff pictures!

Thank you in advance for taking the time to read these updates and I will see you again soon.

Boston 25 News - "My School Rules!"

As I mentioned in my last update, I saw an ad for a contest on Boston 25 News that said, "Tell us Why Your School Rules!", and I bragged about us in a small paragraph (Image below). Boston 25 visited us last Thursday, October 7th to conduct interviews, tour the school, and learn more about like at Parker.

The story on Parker Middle School will air on Wednesday 10/20 during the 7 and 9 AM hours. Please tune in by 7:20AM and 9:20AM (the story will actually air a few minutes later, but with live TV it’s always better to tune in a little earlier!).

The voting page will open on 10/20 and people can start voting at 7:30 AM all the way through 10/21 at midnight. I am encouraging all parents, faculty – and the Chelmsford community to vote! You can go to and there will be a My School Rules graphic on the homepage that is a click-through to the voting site. Please help us spread the word and vote for Parker MS!

If Parker Middle is the winner, a Boston 25 Morning News Anchor will visit us the following week for a live broadcast and to deliver a check for $5,000! You'll have to watch the broadcast to see what we will be using the money for!

The Parker Book Fair is Next Week!

The PTO Book Fair is scheduled for the week of October 18th through 22nd. Don’t want to send cash in to school with your student? Set up an ewallet account so they can purchase books. Unused money can be used at The Scholastic Store Online. Click on the link below to set up.

Please consider volunteering your time to help at the book fair!

After School Clubs & Activities

We are planning to start our after-school clubs/activities next Wednesday (Tuesday is early dismissal - No Clubs).

Our after-school programs are starting next week! The Activity Card fee is $50 per student. Cash or check made payable to Chelmsford Public Schools should be turned into your child's homeroom teacher along with a completed Non-School Health Directive .

The activity card allows students to take full advantage of any clubs they wish to attend. The after-school activities run from 2:40-3:40 on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday throughout the year. Students also have the option of taking a late bus home. The routes are posted in the school and will not be posted publicly. We will work with students and the drivers to be sure kids take the correct bus home. Since we only have 3 late buses, the stops tend to be more spread out that the “regular” bus runs. After activities, students who are not taking a bus will exit the school into the Crooked Spring Road lot and can be picked up there.

*Students who have already paid for Cross-Country are enrolled and do not need to pay an additional $50.

**Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with questions, or if we can assist with an activity card for your child.

Middle School Mini-Marathon!

Mini Marathon, Tuesday, 10/26/21 from 3:00 to 4:30 pm.

The Mini Marathon is a very special, 30+ year tradition in Chelmsford. It is a one-mile race open to everyone in our school community on Tuesday, 10/26/21 from 3:00 to 4:30 pm. Along with the students, there is an adult/older sibling race as well as a younger sibling race! Anyone who wants to run or jog a mile is encouraged to participate. Medals and ribbons are awarded to the fastest runners in each group!

All participants are to meet at the McCarthy track by 3 pm. The final awards ceremony will wrap up by 4:30 pm (students are allowed to leave early if necessary but please try to stay if you can).

Mark your calendars!
