5th Graders that are headed to Discovery Middle School Next Year
We are eager to welcome our incoming sixth grade students and their parents/guardians to Discovery Middle School in anticipation of the 2021-2022 school year. On Tuesday, April 13th, and Thursday, April 15th we cordially invite you to attend the 5th into 6th Grade “Future Eagles Expo” via Zoom (Times to be Determined). Both sessions will contain the same information.
The purpose of the Future Eagles Expo is to acquaint you and your student with the school and hopefully ease the transition from elementary to Discovery.
During these Zoom sessions, parents/guardians and students will “meet” their future principal and other Discovery staff who will play a role in their new journey! We will also provide information about clubs, activities and sports during these sessions, as well.
A Google Form will also be sent to all current emails listed for our incoming 6th graders families (as of March 11, 2021) to collect questions prior to the Eagle Expo dates so the Discovery staff can customize the presentation based upon questions from our students/families. Please watch for this Google Form in your email.
Discovery will send the Zoom link to families, through a communication from their student’s current elementary school, the week of April 5th, 2021. Please watch for this email.
If you are unable to attend either session – you do not need to notify the school. If you are unable to attend either session on April 13th or April 15th, we will post a recorded video of this presentation to our Discovery public website for all to view at their convenience no later than April 19th, 2021.
We look forward to meeting you and your student and hope that you will be able to attend Discovery’s “Future Eagles Expo”!
School Boundary Changes
The Fargo School Board has approved changes to school boundaries that will affect middle and high school students starting in the fall of 2021 and the fall of 2022. Information can be found here:
https://www.fargo.k12.nd.us/BoundaryMaps
You will be able to look up your address as well as check to see what the implementation plan is for each boundary change. There are PDF's of the boundary maps for each school year.
Please note: there are no boundary changes for elementary school attendance boundaries.
Currently the address look up feature is a bit confusing for Eagles students due to being split when they go to middle school. In fall of 2022 Eagles will not longer be a split school and all Eagles students will attend Discovery Middle School. If you have any questions about a particular address, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the FPS District Office at 701-446-1000. Thank you!

PTA UPDATE
Get ready to yell “bingo” into your computer mic! PTA is hosting a Virtual Bingo Night at 6:30 pm Friday, April 9. Look for the flyer to be sent home soon and return one form per family by April 8 to receive bingo cards for your Aces to play along. Students can win prizes for bingo and blackout, including the grand prize – an iPad! Also, any Eagles student who logs in will receive a special surprise!
Eagles PTA will also be hosting a virtual talent show. Keep your eyes and ears open for info on how your student can audition later this month! Selected performances will be featured in a video to be shared with the school and judged by our friends at Touchmark.
Teacher Appreciation Week is coming up May 3-7. This is a great time to show our gratitude to Eagles staff for everything they do. A list of staff favorites will be posted to the PTA Facebook page.
The next PTA meeting is at 6:30 April 19 via Zoom. All are welcome! Connect with other parents and have a say in your child’s school experience.
