The Ririe Report

August 3, 2020 - Beginning of Year

New School Year

Everyone will agree that these are uncertain times, nevertheless, I'm ready and excited to get going with this new school year.

It felt great to be back in the building with the rest of our staff, we have a wonderful group of educators who all want to do what is best for our children.

Parent Orientation

I will do a ZOOM orientation on Monday, August 10th at 10:00 am and again at 3:00 pm, so you can choose which time is convenient for you. We will talk about what the next two weeks will look like and I will also answer questions about the year in general.

Here's the Zoom link for our orientation: https://humbleisd.zoom.us/j/5124665535

I am always available to answer questions, so you can e-mail me at yririe@humbleisd.net.

My phone number is 281-641-1767.

First Day of School

I'm excited about getting started, so please make sure that your children can log into their My Humble accounts - they will then access their Google Classroom from there. All my assignments as well as a daily schedule (for you) will be posted on the students' Google Classroom.

The ZOOM code will be the same (as the one for orientation): https://humbleisd.zoom.us/j/5124665535

The One And Only Ivan

I fell in love with this book this summer; it is funny and beautifully written and will be a great book for our first novel study. It would be great if every student had their own copy, so I encourage all my students to purchase a copy. The paperback costs a little more than a fast food meal, and you can order it from Amazon.

School Supplies

Every year, I look forward to going to Walmart and filling up my cart with pencils, crayons, markers, glue and all kinds of things my students can you in my classroom. Unfortunately, I will not be able do that this year (sniff-sniff) because, out of precaution, students will not be sharing class supplies.

If you purchased an EPI pack and just want to leave it here, no problem, I'll have it ready for your student when he/she comes back on the 24th.

We are asking every student to place their supplies (pencils, colored pencils, scissors, glue, ect.) in a pencil bag and bring it with them (a gallon zip-lock bag will work great, just make sure they have their names written on it).

Here's the link for the school supply list, however, your child will not really be needing any supplies until the first day back in the classroom on August 14th (fingers crossed!).

Humble ISD Website

The district's site has a lot of good information about school openings this year.
