Message From Principal Engdall

Big picture

Greeting Shaw Montessori,

Thursday evening the Shaw Stars Soccer Team played in the championship game against sister school Bethune. While they went undefeated this season, the championship game was not ours and we lost 0-1. Coach Wilfert won Coach of the Year and 7th grader Tessa Dershimer won female MVP for our district. A huge thank you to Coach Wilfert who works miracles with our student-athletes and for the outstanding parent support. If you have not attended a Shaw game, it is a treat. We have a well-seasoned, big hearted, adult cheer squad that can blow your hair back. Next up our basketball stars!

One of the many things that draws people to Shaw Montessori is…….Montessori, the fact that it is free, the community diversity, the academic outcomes and the beautiful COMMUNITY feeling. It is nurturing, kind and safe with a sense of shared ownership, the CULTURE.

The COMMUNITY AND CULTURE here has been built, tended, loved, and cultivated over the last 29 years. Each of us is responsible for its continued care and existence. After all, your child is here 8 hours a day usually for 11 years.

Our school expects 10 hours of your volunteer service per year. This service hopes to build the shared responsibility/space for sustaining a positive culture and climate for every family and child. When you sign up for an event, please attend or remove yourself from the list that tracks our hours and participants. When you come to an event, stay around to help clean things up. When you come to an event that is designed for families please plan to stay with your child (there are no evening PTA events where children may be dropped off, unattended by their parent/guardians). When you come, fully take part in the beauty of our school community and culture and leave it better than you found it!

Science Fair and Carnival opportunities are now posted on the volunteer tab on our PTA Site: https://sites.google.com/view/shawmontessoripta/volunteersupport Without full crews, these events will not be possible. It takes all of us. Please help by doing your part, there is something for everyone!

Wishing you the very best,

Principal Engdall

Spring Carnival

Big picture

It has been a few years since the Carnival has happened at Shaw, due to Covid and the world being somewhat turned upside down! But it's back! And we would love to have you help make it better than ever! There will be games, bounce houses, food trucks, some reptiles and crafts! We need the help of parents to be able to pull this off and get the Shaw community all out to have a good time. We have a sign up link for you HERE for you to look over and see where you can put your name down, the date is Friday March 3rd, from 4-7! Sign up to volunteer for part of it then participate in the rest! We are not charging for this event, it is absolutely FREE, which is AMAZING, you will just need to pay for food along the way! Amazing K's Burgers and Pearls Mini Donuts Food Trucks will be there to keep your tummies happy, along with a popcorn stand and snow cone machine! Please help make this a most memorable event of the year! Don't hesitate to reach out to me at jeshellerparker@gmail.com or Heather if you have any questions at hrvittori@gmail.com

Thank you in advance for making this the event of the year!
