Mrs. Bumbalough's Class

We are learning to learn!

September 16, 2016

This week we talked about being a team. We are working together towards our goals and working as a team on following procedures. Please have your child tell you about what it means to be on the 4th grade team.

Please discuss with your student the importance of turning in homework. There have been several missing assignments. Sometimes the work in finished but they do not turn it in. Many students were give a packet of work to complete this weekend that included math and science work that they have not turned in. As a class, we are improving. Hopefully that trend will continue.

Science Test

We have a science test on Monday. Students have a study guide for homework and can review on itslearning. We reviewed on itslearning in class so they all know what to do.

Social Studies Test

My class has Mr. Bodart for Social Studies. They should have taken their social studies test home today. They were allowed to use their book on the test and were even give page numbers where answers could be found.

Walk-A-Thon 2016

This afternoon was the official kick off of this year’s Walkathon fundraiser. Students were told that they need to speak with their parents to get permission to participate in the fundraiser. Mrs. Jackson shared information with students about how to talk with family, friends, and neighbors when asking for a donation. Students were told not to go alone to ask for donations. Profits from this year’s Walkathon will be used for new playground equipment and enhancing our outdoor space. Mr. Gant and his helper have already put up a brand new sun shade on the playground for the kids to use on those extra hot, sunny days. The extra money from Walkathon will allow us to make our playground even nicer and more fun for the kids. Students should have brought home a yellow envelope that they are to use for the money collected. The envelope explains the participation prize: a pair of sunglasses, and it also shares the other items that can be earned based on the amount of money collected. There is also a yellow letter that explains the details for parents. All collections are due at school on the day of the Walkathon, Friday, September 30th. If we make our school goal of $35,000, everyone will get a smoothie on October 4th, 5th, or 6th. Thanks so much for your support!

ItsLearning is the new digital classroom platform for accessing textbooks and assignments. We think most of the bugs and bumps in the road are smoothed out so that all students can access the digital tools that accompany our lessons and assignments. Have your child log into ItsLearning and show you around! I will be updating and adding content in the next couple of weeks.

AR Reading Goals

Students are tracking their reading progress towards their AR goals. They should be at 67% of their goal as of today. Please sign their goal sheet and discuss their progress with them. Are they on track? How are they going to meet next week's goal of 78%?
